Super User retiredbosn Posted February 2, 2009 Super User Posted February 2, 2009 What is the consensus on these rods? Are they a decent rod, and I don't mean for the money, but are they a good rod. How is the sensitivity, strength, power and all that. I know they have a lifetime guarantee, which I would hope to never have to use, any way let me know your thoughts on these rods. FWIW, I guess I'm cheap but I have a hard time spending more than a 100 bucks on a rod, up to this point the most I've spent is 50 for a new Quantum PT Tour Grade rod. If you knew how hard I am on my rods you would understand why I have a hard time spending a lot of $$ on a rod. I don't think I have a rod that I haven't broke the tip off of. I'm pretty sure I overheated the Quantum rod when replacing the tip on it, so I guess it is ruined. Quote
PlasticMan135 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I like the Clarus rods. I think they feel comfortable in my hand. I also think they are relatively sensitive. Are there better rods? Yes. I also have 2 Compre rods. I think the Compre is a better rod, but the Clarus is nice. I have owned 3. One ultra lite, one med heavy and a new medium. I like the price of the rod and do not think that there will be a better rod for the money. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 2, 2009 Super User Posted February 2, 2009 I use a clarus (6-12, 6'6 rod for pond fishing and it works well. I did take it out for snook and it handled 24-26" snook ( probably 5# range) quite handily. I would not recommend it for high banked canals or sea walls, get the next size up in 7', that will be fine. Quote
Super User islandbass Posted February 2, 2009 Super User Posted February 2, 2009 They are a good rod. I also have a compre and a crucial and can tell you things get better as you go up the line, but the Clarus is more than adequate. Quote
Super User Raul Posted February 2, 2009 Super User Posted February 2, 2009 Very good rods for the money. Quote
