As I have begun to see more and more rods on the market being made with EVA grips, I have become curious as to what advantages they provided over cork. Are they more comfortable or sensitive? For those of you that own both, which do you prefer, cork or EVA (or any other similar material) and why?

I prefer the look of cork. It just looks classier, IMHO. Foam grips remind me of Ugly Sticks.

I haven't noticed dirt or grime on my EVA while my cork grip rods get pretty dirty, even after a short time. Also, I don't like the feeling of cork in my hand when my hands and the cork are very dry. I think that's just me being weird though.

EVA when wet is slippery, when you catch a slimy fish seems the grips get all slimy as well, hard to clean and start to stink if not cleaned.

With cork you can wash it off easily, never gets slippery, easier to hang on to when cold outside, and from what I have seen holds up longer then EVA.

Yes you can clean them with warm soapy water.  Don't use something like 409 or some solvent cleaner as the smell stays in the EVA.

I had EVA on a couple of my Musky and Striper rods, did not care for the extra care and cleanup.  Went back to cork.

I prefer the classic look and feel of cork.  I'm turning 40 in a couple of weeks, so I'm a young guy, but I like the classics.  I drive a HHR because it is designed after the 48 Suburban, I like retro everything.  I am even feeling the draw to go with the round reels over the LP's.

Let me make a statement .I can throw a weightless super fluke with my stx. I can not throw a weightless super fluke without several backlashes with my sx.Dont throw me to the lions.

Cork for me, and while I am at it, I also LIKE foregrips, and full rear handles.
