I.rar Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 i stumbled across them reading through some bass forums and from what ive read , they seem to be an excellent 'bang for the buck' type company offering a lifetime warranty on their products. the baitcaster cought my eye since ive always wanted to give it a shot but they dont have a left hand retireve in stock. the spinning reels look good and the rods seem to be a deal too at buy one get one free. i know not to judge a book by its cover and one mans treasure can be another mans junk and vice-versa. http://www.acadiasports.com/home.asp?ru=0&v=&tdt=&ssid= input? flatbass Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I don't know about the reels, but the rods are a heck of a deal for the money. Quote
guitarkid Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 did you guys see the Bass Resource ad on the side? -gk Quote
I.rar Posted January 31, 2009 Author Posted January 31, 2009 I don't know about the reels, but the rods are a heck of a deal for the money. i searched google and found very few links to threads on other forums about them. some people saying the rods are so-so and other saying that theyre excellent for the money. ive never fished with any $75+ rod before so i really wouldnt know what to compare them to. but would one of those be better than say BPS cheaper offerings? what really cought my eye was the baitcasters with the warranty.... Jake. Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I've never used one, but I think you would be better off with a reel made by an established company like Abu Garcia, Shimano, Diawa, Pflueger or even a Cabelas or BPS brand reel. They have good reputations for quality products. Besides, 9.8 ozs is pretty heavy for a low-pro baitcaster. JMHO. Quote

It 's a matter of perspective, after fishing with a GLoomis IMX you cahnge to a Berkley Lightning Rod and you will say that the Lightning is so-so ( of course when you compared it to an IMX ), I own Lightning Rods and IMXs, I say that Lightning Rods just as Shimano 's Scimitars and Clarus rods are excellent for the money. I.rar Posted January 31, 2009 Author Posted January 31, 2009 i was also looking at the berkleys and BPS trigger and crankin rods. i think ill just go the tried and true route. more than likly i will snag something from the forums flea market. thanks for the replies. Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted January 31, 2009 Super User Posted January 31, 2009 I emailed the company to check out the reels. Spinning reels are made in Korea and the Casting reels are made in China. In the email I expressly asked which Shimano reel they tried to duplicate in quality and performance, the answer was the Castic line. I have no idea if they matched the quality however, I didn't purchase. But isn't the Castic the entry level Shimano? It took 10 bearings to get the same performance of a 3 bearing reel? That is why I passed, just didn't make sense to me. I spent 20 more dollars and got an new reel that retails for 180 bucks off of ebay. Quote
