I find the IMX and GLX colors to be rich, deep and beautiful.

Classic styling with a subtle accent, refined and true. There

is nothing I would change.

Take G-Loomis for example.  They matched their rod colors to a turd!!

What's that suppose to mean?

Look at a turd.... then look at a IMX or GLX.  Neither have any fashion sense  :-?

I'm not knocking the rod at all.  I own two (956 and MBR844) and they are awesome.  They just aren't as "Hip" as some of my other rods.  Look at the new Dobyns.... not only are they eye catching, but they perform well.

They could slap a paint job on the IMX and GLX but it would add tip weight and negatively affect the balance.  Function over fashion is what made them the standard by which others have been judged for 20+ years.

Fashion is great, only when it doesn't hurt function. (IMO)

I agree completely Flechero. But it would've been just as easy to keep the blank a matte black color with a mean gold or silver bone fish logo and look nice. Remove the foregrip. Same high quality cork full rear grip. Either a decorative butt cap or a rubberized cork. All black hardware. I can't imagine anything better then that right there  :'(

This thread should be given classic status immediately. It informed, it debated, it expounded and amused all at the same time. This is why I joined Bassresource. Thanks to everyone who posted in this thread.

True... but I didn't mean ugly is good.  These days, I do put thought into (the looks of) my builds... even the "stealth" rods are intentionally color coordinated.

I agree; it did that and more.  I mean...look at the thread title.  Burley finally got his Herpes taken care of.

Your rods are works of art, I wouldnt put them in the same category of any mass produced rod, no matter if they are considered the standard

That rod you built for Russ is  beautiful.

I have a feeling this will be my first JDM reel.

Wait until you see the price tag.

So, back on topic...$389 is a lot, but doesn't seem outrageous if it's comparable to the Core.

whats next: matching tackle bags, with terry cloth fishing robes with matching fluffy Slippers?

What have you got against fluffy slippers?? And this from the guy who made "French Vanilla, Ameretto, Hazlenut" coffee every morning on the Lake Fork Road trip.

I think I am hearing some mixed signals here....
