fatmanslim247 Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 So I just purchased a revo premier and stx, both left handed.... wow it got expensive fast. Then not to mention yesterday I bought an older bps extreme and over a hundred bucks on mattlures. Thank god I still live with my roommates...(my parents) and have a really good full time job. Quote
Calcutta Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I cant even get on ebay anymore. Everytime I get on there the monkey makes me buy every abu garcia "winch" thats listed. I told my wife they dont make them anymore and she told me we might not be married anymore! Quote
BassBandit35 Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Thank god I still live with my roommates...(my parents) Calling your parents a roomate. IMO, not nice. They raised you so you should be thankful. Again, IMO. Life is expensive alright. Quote
fatmanslim247 Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 thats actually a movie quote... lol, I almost bought the winch.... but I bought the stx instead. Then they had those skeet reese reels.... oooo man, I told my dad earlier what all I had bought, he told me if I would just save that money I could have new truck in no time. He is right but this is a serious addiction, lol Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted January 17, 2009 Super User Posted January 17, 2009 Fleabay has been killing me too. Just this week alone I've bought a Xcalibur XS4 stickbait, two Sammys, three BDS 2's, a Deep-X 100, and three Prop Darter 80's. Had I not fallen asleep an hour before the auction ended, I would have ended up with a new Techna AV too. Quote
LAO162 Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 So far... I've resisted the temptation to look at gear on ebay. My paypal is at $0. What are the Techna AV's going for on ebay? Wait, no, don't tell... Quote

They are great, they will keep you from wearing out from all that cranking. Quote
kickbasskid Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 My parents banned me from ebay because I bid more money than I had on a reel and they had to spot me 50 bucks. I have managed to control the urge though and have continued my ebay excursions. Quote
ThomasL Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 As a seller more than a buyer on ebay lately they are trying to stop all forms of payments and only try and trick you into paypal. In descriptions you can list alternative payment types and receive them just don't put it in the additional comment box or it will not list the item.It is bad enough with the economy now that you get hit with first a list fee, then final value fee,and now it seems ebay and paypal are in cohoots so that paypal can get there share also.I understand the safety concerns but lets face it if you get stiffed 10-20 dollars and can't take that you don't need to be buying on ebay in the first place... ChiCityBasser Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 The Ebay bait monkey always gets me at this time here in chicago. Since this is hardwater time here I upgrade or replace lost lures with lots of the custom painted ones from ebay. Just spent over $60 on lures and reorganized my 2 bags last night but now need another big bag just for the overflow of lures. Right now I'm eyeing a couple of reels between ebay and Cabelas bargain cave. Quote
scbassin Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I guess I am lucky because PayPal said I have to get Verified before I can use them again. They want me to give them my bank account # or get their credit card. I ask why & was told that is their rules, I told them thank you because you just saved me a bunch of money. Heck I was probably spending $300 a month on average. I'll know for sure when I get my taxes together. > Quote
Simp Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I hate paypal now. My problem came with them when I sold some PS3's on ebay when it launched, We had one deposit literally taken back out of our bank account. Then even after having the buyers confirm they received each PS3 it was often a couple weeks or more before they would give us our money. It was nothing more then Ebay and Paypal trying to make money off interest with our money. I'm glad other auction sites have poped up like amazon, best buy private auction, ect. Quote
jack1 Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Ebay is my new best friend as of late. I've been saving and planning to attend a fishing show this March, which I know I was going to get great deals, but found out that my school schedule will not allow me to attend. Because of that, I've been spending big time on ebay. I found some great deals on reels and lures. Probably spent close to $1000 already with more to spend. Quote
BNKrust Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Baitmonkey 1 Me 0 In a two day flurry, I bought: 2 Quantum Tour Edition PTs 2 Revo Winches 2 Cumaras 1 Crucial 20+ Red Eye Shads 12+ bags of Zoom Trick Worms I never stood a chance. In my defense, I got all of that for somewhere in the range of $1000, which was about 60% of retail. My wife would be proud. That is, if she ever finds out... Quote
