Super User bilgerat Posted January 10, 2009 Super User Posted January 10, 2009 [ I almost feel guilty but recently I've found alternatives that better meet MY needs at price points that meet MY budget restraints/quote] Nothing to feel "guilty" about. That's just a smart way to purchase things.Period. Quote
Super User MickD Posted January 12, 2009 Super User Posted January 12, 2009 Regarding Shimano quality, I have never had a Shimano reel or bicycle part that was anything but fine quality. I find it hard to imagine that with all my experience with Shimano that I missed all the problems. Going after RW for his just stating that Shimano will stand behind their product just doesn't make sense, and sounds a little (lot?)disingenuous. My experience with almost everyone I've done business with has been that if you conduct yourself politely, almost everything can be resolved satifactorily. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 12, 2009 Super User Posted January 12, 2009 I'm the biggest d**n Shimano homer there is on this forum (just look at my truck) and I've heard enough bad things about the FI to ensure that I won't buy one. Kind of wish I would have kept the FH that I sold last fall. :'( Quote
Fishing Doug Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 I bought 2 this year-the 2500 had bail issues and the 1000 sounded and felt like a meat grinder. Could both issues be resolved, yes. Should I have issues with 2 out of 2 new products, no. FD Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted January 12, 2009 Super User Posted January 12, 2009 Most of the complaints I've seen and heard come from guys that use them in salt. Go figure? I have an FG 1000 that runs like brand new. BINGO!!! My brothers started acting up after somewhat heavy use in saltwater. I have two of them that are at least 3 yrs old and have ZERO problems. I use the bigger one in salt for snook but I rinse it well when done. Quote

Matt 825 Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 I have 2 Stradic FI's. I used one of them pretty hard last year and it still works as good as new. I think the FG was the best series but I am liking the FI so far. Quote
