jwo1124 Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 How many out there like strike king crankbaits? I tried them this past season and caught quite a few fish on them. I am talking about the Pro Models, not the Tour Grade. I have only used the series 1 and series 3 which dive 2-5 and up to 8' respectively. I have yet to try, or need, to go any larger or deeper. But if anyone has used the series 5 or 6 which go 10-12 and 16' let me know what you thought of them. I know there are probably better cranks out there, but I seemed to find these fitting for what I needed, plus they are less than $4 a piece. I have read only a couple reviews that read that Strike King should stick to spinnerbaits because that one person didn;t like their jigs or cranks too much. I must say though, that I have had luck in the past with their cranks this season, their red eye spinnerbaits two seasons a go, as well as their bleeding bait tube which I caught my runner up personal best bass out of a city pond I fish. I think I may stay brand loyal to Strike King until I find myself dissapointed by their products. They are priced well for the angler on a budget, they have well known, respected professional anglers on their team, and they manufacture just about any bass lure there is. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 I got some series 3 cranks because I couldn't find the right colors in a bandit 200. One color was Green back on pearl and I forget the other colors. They worked fine, but not as well as the bandit worked. I have since found the color in bandit and have not gone back to the strike king model. I also got a larger strike king crank, not sure of the series. The eyes were very beady and the paint peeled off. I was going to buy some of the tour grade stuff, but haven't found any. I also want to try the King Shad, but won't pay $20 for it. Overall, the strike king cranks strike me as cheaply made, and not so hot, but OK for the money. Bandits work so much better though. Quote
Super User Tin Posted November 27, 2007 Super User Posted November 27, 2007 Love the sexy shad, have it in the Red Eye Shad and the series 1 crank. Strike King cranks are the very first artificial I ever started fishing, I primarily stick to the series 1s, which I use for more of a small wake bait, series 1 which seem to tempting to most fish, the series 3 has treated me well, and the series 4s. I like the 4s but I have had issues with them coming out of the package and taking on water. So they dont float and dont run right. That would be my only complaint about strike king cranks. We really dont have water deep enough to crank with the 4-6 series so cant comment on those. The Red Eye shad and Diamond Shad are also great for lipless cranks, they do the same exact thing as other lipless baits for a third the price. Quote
detroit1 Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 I bought a 12' model ( don't know the id#), and liked it. It comes thru the water a little easier than a Norman or Bomber. I didn't like the color, but i will change that this winter.. Quote
KevO Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I have a couple of the 2 and 3 series crankbaits, I got at Academy Sports on clearance for a $1 but haven't used them. I also got one of their lipless cranks on sale too, and have caught a ton of fish with it, including a 5# lmb and a 10# striper. So for the price they are good. Quote
