Yes. I have used it for shaky heading around or in weeds. I usually use 20lb test with a Fintech Title Shot Jighead. I like the Title Shots because they come through vegetation much better than the average shaky head jig. I only use that tackle when I'm fishing near or in vegetation.

Ive never tried this.  I think it could go either way, good or bad.

The only thing I can think of that I wouldnt like is I normally like big, bulky baits when fishing braid but it may be alright.

10lb Braid works fine with a spinning reel. Big fish I've caught shaky head with 10lb braid is 6lb14oz without a problem.

I was mentioninng this with spinning gear in mind. Fish Lake Cumberland a lot, which is clear. Was thinking the 2 lb diameter might work well, but then again, you have to consider all the rock on this lake.

If line visibility is a concern you can always use a fluoro leader

Rock isn't a problem, just use a fluoro leader.

I have used 10 lb Fireline on my spinning reels for the past 3 or 4 years for all kinds of fishing including shakey head fishing with great results.  I tried 14 lb but with the crystal clear waters here did not think I was getting the bites I should.  Went to 10 lb and have seen no need to change anything since.  I tie right to the jig and have done well with it.

dodgeguy,

Nice fish!

I was wondering about the results of your test (fluoro vs braid).

Are you back to braid for everything?

I fish the shaky head a ton, and I use 10lb braid exclusively even in clear water.  I am not sure I totally buy into the "line shy" issue.  If I am fishing a super clear lake, i will use a fluro leader.  IMO, braid has many advantages:

1.  Cost- spoll up once and forget about it.

2.  sensitivity

3.  no stretch- you must learn to use a slightly different hook set

4. durability

5. managability- especially in cold weather.
