Super User Dan: Posted December 30, 2008 Super User Posted December 30, 2008 I got a new Gblank rod for Christmas but it didn't arrive until yesterday. It is a Batson RX7 6'9" Medium/ F-XF rated for 8-12lb test. I plan to use it for shakey heads, flukes, t-rigs, and weightless senkos. $125 + $20 shipping I am extremely happy with how it turned out. It is beautiful and very light. I plan to match it with a Citica 201E. i Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted December 30, 2008 Super User Posted December 30, 2008 Sweet. I ended up with one I found here in the flea market last fall. Looking forward to getting it on the water in spring. You got a nice looking rod there. Quote
Jake. Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Great loooking rod. Those colors will match perfectly with a Citica E. 8-) Quote
Super User Dan: Posted December 31, 2008 Author Super User Posted December 31, 2008 Great loooking rod. Those colors will match perfectly with a Citica E. 8-) thanks, and yeah, that's what I thought. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted December 31, 2008 Author Super User Posted December 31, 2008 Nice rod, I love the "all black". Yeah, I do to. That's pretty much why I ended up going with a custom rod. I couldn't find a mass produced "murdered out" rod in my price range. I only wish I could afford a Core to match it with. Oh well, I think the black handle and spool of the Citica E will match well. daviscw Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I have never used an Abu reel, but an SX would look snazzy. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted December 31, 2008 Author Super User Posted December 31, 2008 Yeah, it probably would but I'm brand loyal. ;D Quote
shimanogloomis man Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Yeah, it probably would but I'm brand loyal. ;D ur a smart man ;D Quote
Daniel My Brother Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Beautiful rod! I'm thinking seriously about a new g-blanks myself. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted December 31, 2008 Author Super User Posted December 31, 2008 Beautiful rod! I'm thinking seriously about a new g-blanks myself. Call Larry Mitchell up and talk to him about what you want. He was very helpful. They have a lot of options and great prices. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted January 7, 2009 Author Super User Posted January 7, 2009 Looks even better than I imagined. Feels great in the hand, too. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted January 7, 2009 Super User Posted January 7, 2009 I knew you'd like it. Quote

ArcticCat500 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I think Larry picked up a couple sales off this post, he's at a show in Texas now and will be back on Mon, how do I know you ask? I just emailed the day this post came about and Im looking into a spinning set-up. Dressed in black of course. Nice looking rod, and for the $$$ I think it's worth a go. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted January 8, 2009 Author Super User Posted January 8, 2009 Great, I hope they get a few sales from my recommendation. Then maybe they can get a website worth a #&^#. ;D Quote
ArcticCat500 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I agree with you there, a couple snapshots at best isnt enough. I've been emailing him so I think Im going to give 1 a try. He said he'd get back to me after the show with different rod blank options. Quote
twelvebass Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I can't even find their website. What is the price range? Quote
Super User Dan: Posted January 9, 2009 Author Super User Posted January 9, 2009 http://www.imaginationbassin.com/gblanks.htm That is their website. Pretty weak but give them a call, you can get better information on more options. The prices listed are for lower end blanks, while they offer higher quality blanks for more money but you need to call to find out about that stuff. Quote
The_Natural Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Their website has been the same since '04 or earlier. Their rods have changed though....they made their name on shikari SHX blanks, and now they are made on bastson blanks. Regardless....the rods are quality and I wouldn't hesitate to order one. I'm glad someone ordered one like I would....I honestl can't see why with today's market you wouldn't offer something like that as a staple. A rod like that gets people fired up..... Quote

A rod like that gets people fired up..... theres truth to that statement, I was a lil fired up when I saw it, like I mentioned earlier I may very well give one a try. I'll look into some of the other blanks as well to see whats offered. Black on black is a must, that is very nice looking, and from what I've read these are nice rods. Quote

Cravin Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I would love to have one of those beauties and that's a great price. The Citica looks nice on that rod, although I don't see how any reel would look bad on that rod. Quote
bjohnson Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 LOOKS awesome, I have been considering trying one. What do you think of the RX7 blank they use? What would you say it compares to, in comparison to other rods? weight, sensitivity..... I am with you guys on the black on black looks tough!! Quote
