Bought a G.Loomis SWBR956C Swimbait rod this morning.  I've got a Shimano Calcutta 400 I am putting on it and need to know what line to use on it.  Also just put my order in on some new Huddleston swimbaits.  What does everyone recommend I use?

I own the same combo and have 25# pline CXX on it.  I just switched over from Big Game and love it so far.  I would suggest the KVD Line and Lure Conditioner to apply to the CXX as it has a good amount of memory.  I'm not sure what other swimbaits you will be using besides Hudds, but that is the PERFECT huddleston setup IMHO.  I know certain other people will agree as well.  Best of luck with the new combo, I know I LOVE mine!!!

Awesome combo. I have the 955 and 957 and love them both. I use Maxima Green on my setups. I tried the CXX although it is strong I cant keep the memory down with anything above 14 lb test even with KVD line conditioner.

Well I use PLine Halo a lot but was just afraid of it breaking on me. And especially throwing those more expensive baits. However I have never had any of the higher test PLine break on me like I have had the 10 or 8 pound. I guess I'll spool up some 15 or 16 pound line and see how it performs.  Always use KVD Line Conditioner on all of my line.  I even keep a bottle in my pocket while fishing.

Good Luck if your throwing 8" hudds.

You guys might Laugh, but I throw braid with a flouro leader.  I found that I have a hard time with rats nest with my Round Shimano Corvalus reel and using braid helps alot for me.  But wheen it does rat nest man it's a mess  :)

I have always used 17# mono for any type of swimbaits, now my swimbaits don't compare to LBH's but they are still considered a swimbait. :)

OK!  I'll go at least 25 LB on whatever I go with.  I just want it to hold up and not break off on me.  The wait for the baits are 4-6 weeks.  Order 3 of the new weedless versions.  Rod comes in tomorrow sometime.  I'll stop by the local tackle shop and see about some hard swimbaits until those arrive.
