BassBandit35 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 What line do you prefer for deep cranking? I define deep as 10-15+ Quote
BluFleck Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I use 12# Mean Green, unless ultra clear water then 12# Seguar InvisX Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 5, 2009 Super User Posted January 5, 2009 You can make it complicated or keep it simple. I prefer simple: Spinning tackle: #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test) Baitcasting gear: #12 Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft (.013" diameter, 19.5 lb test) 8-) Quote
Daniel My Brother Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Whether it's fishing or drinking, I prefer the cheap stuff. Berkley Big Game Mono #12 Quote

Super User Chris at Tech Posted January 5, 2009 Super User Posted January 5, 2009 Does no one use floro? I've got a Winch on the way that I was thinking about using 10 lb floro on... Quote
BassBandit35 Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 Interesting. On other board, one of 27 members like fluoro and one for braid while the rest of them prefer mono. Chris I currently use fluoro for deep cranking but, thinking about switching back to mono due to several reason. Constant backlashes with fluoro only with deep crank outfit. Rarely do I get birdnest when casting spinnerbait or worms with fluoro except deep diver that gives me a fit. I don't know if switching to mono will solve the problem for me. Moneywise, yes it would. BassBandit35 Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 No difference. Have used it, same result. KVD stated that he had the same problem with fluoro that fluff up on him so I know it not just me Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 5, 2009 Super User Posted January 5, 2009 The issue might be the reel. What reel is it? I have no issues with FC on either of my TD-X reels. One of them I run "wide open" as in no brakes, with 20# line for pitching. Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted January 5, 2009 Super User Posted January 5, 2009 10 and 12 lb big game in green gonna try 8 lb big game this yr Quote
NBR Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Fluoro sinks quickly mono with a specific gravity of only slightly over 1.0 sinks much much slower. Want to get deeper use fluoro. I don't crank deep all that much but I use fluoro on jigs and soft plastics with no more backlash issues than mono Quote
