I have been looking out my window at the SNOW and thinking of the two rods which one would be better! So I think I will throw it by the experts! What do you guys think?   I was thinking 7' MH in spinning or trigger.   The bait I would throw would be senko's , jigs,T-worms, fin.worms,ect.

I was thinking of which one to get too.  I have 150 dollars in bass pro shops gift cards and they dont have the zillion rods.  Right now i am leaning towards the kistler magnesium.

Right now gander mountian has the kistler heliums for like 120 bucks, thats if you have a gander around.  I like my carrot stick but I haven't fished a kistler yet, thats why I'm buying one today...

I recently purchased both a 7'H Magnesium and a 6'10''MH Carrot Stix Gold but haven't had much of a chance to test them out but what I have done so far gets me to say that either would be a great choice.

I honestly can't recommend either.  I sold my two Carrots; I didn't like the guides and the sensitivity was just mediocre.  The Kistlers still have a bad rep for frequently breaking.  I'm not a fan of Trey Kistler, so it pains me to say I'd choose the Kistler if I could only choose from those two.  You might look on ebay and see if you can get a quantum superlite for $150.  Lamiglas hooks up Quantum with a really nice blank for those rods, and they hang with my other high end rods.

I'd be interested in hearing more about that.  :-?

I have not owned/used any carrots, but insert Magnesium TS into the above quote and you'll get my feeling on those, not to mention that fact that Kistler used crap reel seats and cork.

Yes..........NOW.......they use fuji seats, but whats the point, they burned there bridge with me. $180 rod and I can get better reels seats and guides on a $30 Berkley Lightning Rod.

Thanks for all the input! Now maybe I will look at the new Mojo rod.

I own several Kistler rods in the Magnesium and LTX 2 models.  They are fantastic rods.  The Magnesiums are not as sensitive as my LTX 2's, but they are still pretty sweet rods.  I have only fished with a buddies Carrot Stick for a few casts, but they seemed just o.k. to me.  I would also take a look at the new Argon series from Kistler.  They are supposed to be a hair more sensitive than the Magnesiums.

Do you know if Bass Pro has the Argon rod? In the catalog they just have the Magnesium! :'(

I agree with you on one thig! The Bass Pro Extreme are very good rods for the money that is true! But there are better feeling rods! I have 18 rods in my boat and my top rod is a G-Loomis and that rod has better feel than the extreme. Now I would never spend over $200 for a rod. I have 4 or 5 Extremes in my boat and I like them! But when comes down to lite bite I go for my better rods and they do cost more! You get what you pay for! And some day I will buy another Extreme!

Back in 2004, Someone posted a thread on the Bass Pro forums about a Helium LTA versus an IMX.  The Helium was pretty new, but had some fans.  It got a little heated when Kistlers warranty issue came up, and then Trey Kistler appeared and posted a few replies.   He said Loomis rods were popular only because they sell you on their warranty (implying kistler didn't need a lifetime unconditional warranty because of their quality product).  The next day he erased his posts, but a few were saved from people replying with a quote.  I just didn't like his attitude....

I just bought a Magnesium Flipping stick and I love it so far. It has a really great tip that is soft enough to use for frogs as well. I have never used a Carrot Stick but I can say I really like my Magnesium.

I wasn't gonna say anything but my Magnesium telescoping flipping stick makes my Extreme telescoping flipping stick feel like a broomstick.

The BPS Extreme rod is a $30 rod priced at $100.  Fine if you need to beat your rugs or whip a horse.
