luckyinkentucky Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 Some of you have been following the problems I have had with BPS in the past with returned items, getting my credits, etc... Today something took the cake that will keep me from shopping with them AT ALL anymore. I placed an order out of their Fall Angler catalog a few weeks ago for 6 Rick Clunn Lucky Craft Lures for $10.88 a piece ... as advertised. I was wondering where that order was, so I looked. Much to my disbelief all of the lures had been placed on 'Out of Stock' status, so I called and the lady on the phone said they were In Stock. She checked another order that has went out with the Rick Clunn lures, and it was placed 4 days after mine! It had been filled no problem. She tried to reorder them, and they had placed a 'Price Lock' on them to keep them from entering my $10.88 price codes. So ...... I told myself that I would 'fix them' so I went to the Clarksville, IN store to pick the lures up with catalog in hand since they have to offer their lowest 90 day price per their guidelines .... right??? WRONG!!! You wouldn't believe the hassle the in store manager gave me over the prices of their original $14.99 lures. It just so happened that I had left the catalog in the truck, and they just 'Happened' to have every catalog since the 2007 Master Catalog, but they didn't have the Fall Angler catalog for some reason. : I walked out the the truck, grabbed the catalog off the seat, and took it back in. You wouldn't believe the hassle they gave me even after seeing the price in red on their own catalog's page. He wanted to deny me the price reduction you could just see it, but he had to honor it. So, I took my lures and walked out! While I was there another thing I noticed had taken place. The rods that were advertised as the Pro Qualifier LTD editions were totally different rods than the ones the manager showed me just a few days ago before the sale! He showed me a rod that looked similar to the Rick Clunn Signature series, but the rods I saw today were cheap graphite blanks similar to the $19 Graphite Berkley Rods at Wal-Mart. I witnessed the whole bait and switch with my own eyes. Different rod being sold as to the one they showed me as the original last week. Quote
Super User islandbass Posted November 23, 2007 Super User Posted November 23, 2007 Wow, maybe I should consider myself fortunate that the closest BPS is over 1000 miles away. That is terrible service. If I were you, I would write a letter to the higher ups. Sorry for such a terrible experience. Quote
Super User Micro Posted November 23, 2007 Super User Posted November 23, 2007 I walked into BPS two weeks ago with a Vertigo Battery Charger that I purchased in the spring that was making a funny noise when I plugged it in. They told me that they had a 30 day exchange policy. But then said a battery charger shouldn't crap out after only 6 months and invited me to go get a replacement and they would go ahead and swap it out. I'm sorry you haven't had good luck with your BPS. The customer service in the Hampton, VA store has been perfect for me. Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 Next time, just ask to speak with Johnny Morris.... Quote
Super User grimlin Posted November 23, 2007 Super User Posted November 23, 2007 That sucks man, just shop elsewhere. There's plenty of good online stores. I haven't order anything from BPS in awhile, then again i'm spoiled by good deals elsewhere. I don't have any problems with them, but that switch in the combo is a bad,bad idea. Not good that word is floating around out there like that.I hope it hurts them....that's just wrong what they are doing.I got enough other sport and fishing stores to keep me happy if i ever get ticked off by BPS.There's alot of competition around here that BPS is careful of losing customers here. bocabasser Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 please stop shopping there man. your posts are becoming---well lets just say bitchy. i have never had a problem with bps. you must have some kinda negative aura when you walk in or shop online. Quote

Just passing on the word like anyone else here. Bad and good experiences alike. Quote
senko_77 Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 bocabasser - it's seems that you have an extremely positive aura, because most people have bad experiences with BPS. I'm done bashing them, but I've seen them at the worst when I was an employee and LuckyinKentucky has every right to be mad. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted November 23, 2007 Super User Posted November 23, 2007 Gripe-on Lucky, you have every right. I've had my issues here in the Detroit store. They don't always see it the customers way. The mis-advertised combos are a big issue with me also. Falcon Quote
Jake P Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 as far as the false advertisement im not sure but as for the customer service that you guys have had bad experiences with i think its just a matter of the people becuase the basspro down here in grapevine has been nothing but nice and helpful to me and all my buddies that go there.I broke a reel myself and told them i did it and they still gave me a brand new one without questioning. Its with any company i believe your gonna have your good and bad experiences with them but if it happens more than 2 or 3 times thats when i would draw the line. Hopefully it doesnt happen again, good luck Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted November 26, 2007 Super User Posted November 26, 2007 I will have to stand up for the two BPS in the Houston area. I have never had a problem exchanging anything even without a receipt. i was in their store on 288 this morning pricing Revo reels and they were 10.00 cheaper (99.00) on the Revo reel than anyone else in town. I bought two. They even told me if I went on line I would be able to purchase a little cheaper. I just did not want to wait. Six months ago I carried back a goretex rain bib that I had owned for nine months and I thought the color had faded early. The girl at the counter would not exchange it but called a manager and he looked at it and told me to go get another and bring it back to the service desk. I walked out with a new one no charge. This is not an exception, they always treat me right. Quote
jeguy6 Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 I've nothing but good service from the BPS i've visited. But I did experience something over the weekend that will definitely keep my guard up. They were advertising this BPS Pro Qualifier Limited edition series combo on sale from $169 for only $69!! I have owned a Pro Qualifer combo for a bout a year now, and have been very pleased with it. When I got in the store, I decided that I would get me another one at that price. That's when I noticed the difference. The 6'6'' rod only had 7 eyes on it. It didn't look near the quality of my old pro qualifier. I even when and got one of the the regular pro qualifer rods to compare. DEFINITELY A BIG DIFFERENCE IN QUALITY!! Now if I had purchased the combo, then later noticed the difference, I would had felt like I had been cheated. Guess it pays to check things out reel good before purchase. Funny thing is, I seen several people purchasing them, some getting two or three of them. Quote
Guest muddy Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 The reel on that isn't the regular Pro Qualifier either. Now a lot of fellas are going to say it was up to the customers to read what they were buying THAT JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU THEY ARE PRACTICING SOME MIS-LEADING COME ONS and the less experienced anglers will be taken for a ride as they say in Brooklyn CASE CLOSED MOOK!!!!!!!!!!!! : Quote
Guest muddy Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 A>>>>>>>>>>>>OOOOOOO It's one word Mook Fugetaboutit!!!!!!! Some of these guys can use a Guy like Brent heading their customer relations, he always tells the truth, he is more than considerate to his customers and he can cook a mean tree chicken Quote
