Thefishy1 Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 I've been looking for a new rod to get with my christmas money. I'm lookin for a rod to mainly throw football jigs, carolina rigs, and do some light flipping with. So, i've narrowed it down to a rod that is about 7'1" to 7'3" and MH or H. A rod with a light tip, good backbone, and excellent sensitivity for detecting hits at the end of long casts. There are five that I've started looking at are All Star ASR 7'2" MH Kistler Argon 7'2" MH Loomis Mossyback 7'2" H Cumara 7'2" MH Carrot Stix 7'3" MH I'm looking at a price range of up to $225 ish and those are what I've found, and I'd like to know if anyone has them and if they have any input on them Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 1, 2009 Super User Posted January 1, 2009 The Cumara isn't fit for carolina rigging. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted January 1, 2009 Super User Posted January 1, 2009 Here ya go... G-Loomis MBR844C GLX new $365. Sell for $265 plus shipping. This rod is 7' and rated heavy which I don't need. Very MINIMAL use and is in MINT condition. I have it in the flea market. Quote
casterus60 Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 MBR 844 glx is an awesome rod,but it's 7'.If you would like longer you better take a look on Stcroix legend tournament 7'3'' carolina rig. That's the rod you're looking for. Adam Quote
Super User cart7t Posted January 1, 2009 Super User Posted January 1, 2009 I can't testify to the All Star ASR rod but I'd add an All Star Platinum series P846, 7' MHVY/Xfst to your list. The 846 series has been a tried and true C-rig rod in the All Star lineup for years. The Platinums are about as sensitive as you'll find in the price range and compare easily with higher priced rods. Pretty tough too. Despite the fact it's made with high modulus graphite, which tend to make a rod more fragile, the Platinums can take a licking and keep going. I've got a Titanium 846 C-rig rod that's all beat up from sinkers banging on the blank and it just keeps going and going. Quote
Super User flechero Posted January 1, 2009 Super User Posted January 1, 2009 You can get a MBR844C IMX in your price range on ebay... It beats everything else on your list, IMO. Quote
