Where's the 6.2?

I've owned Shimano reels (happily) for 20 years. Citca, CuradoB, CuradoD(didn't like that one), Chronarch, Chronarch SF, Chronarch Mg, Calais, etc... My favorite of all time was the Curado B SF.. It was a 200 size reel with a 6.2 gear ratio. Now the new Curado's have 5.1 or 7.1 and i hear the new Chronarch are a 100 size reel but still no 6.2 gears. Am I the only one that likes the line capacity of a 200 series and 6.2 gears?

Or is it time i face facts and move to the Revo's or Zillions where they offer both options. I'm so accustomed to the smoothness and castability of a Shimano, i just don't know if i can switch. I know the other products are good but what does a Revo cast like a year after ownership when you are throwing a weighless Senko into a 15mph wind. Reading the specs won't tell you that. Thanks for any input!

The 6.2 (or 6.3 actually) is in the Citica.

Sho nuff' but I've been fishing the Curado/Chronarch level stuff for years. The Citca's are nice but having many, at least the older versions, the longevity was not there compared to the others. Maybe the new ones are different. I love my Chronarch 50mg, but on my flippin stick or CR rod, using 20 pounds I can almost spool it on a long cast!

curado 300E comes in 6.3 but it's a tad bit heavier.

I've had my Revos for nearly a year and fished them for over 100 days last year and they are still just as smooth as they were after the first time I cleaned and lubed them.

You could always get a Citica in 6.4 and a Curado in 7.1 and then switch out the gears. As I understand, they use exchangeable systems. But I would just try another brand.

If you are partial to the Curado BSF, then you have nothing to worry about going "down" to a Citica E for the gear ratio you desire. It is vastly superior in every way to that curado and even the Curado D but that is MHO. The Cirica E is lighter than the Curado D or B, off the bat. It also sports the HE gearing which the B and the 100 sized D do not.

I don't have a need for another 6.x:1 ratio reel, but if I did, I'd get the Citica E. Everything about it from its price to its features make it well worth the $120.00 MSRP.

I have the Revo in a SX and S and I just got the Curado E7 for X-mas , I like all of these reels but keep in mind that they do feel different. I too wanted the 6.2 retrieve but I don't think I'll really miss it all that much. this E7 is sweet.

I own quite a few Revos and have had them ever since they came out.  If anything they cast better now then they did new.  Even the Revo S models would cast that 5" Senko into the wind if you have an educated thumb, if not use the Revo SX and adjust the magnetic brakes to your liking.

In my experience, the new Citica E's and D's are lightyears more advanced than the older Bantam Citicas.  In my mind the Citica's have actually replaced the position that the Curado B's where before they where redesigned to the D series.  So there shouldn't be much differnece if you go from the Curado B to the Citica D or E.  Or you could just buy an older Curado off ebay and our own swap/sell forum.  There are still hundreds of them still being used and swaped, and sold.

I too have wondered for countless hours why Shimano does not come out with the 6.3.1 ratio in the Curado/ Chronarch line up.  It just doesn't make sense to me.  The 7.1.1's are great but for a spinnerbait or other bait that is fished with a steady moderate retrieve on a 6.3.1 now has to be crawled on the faster reels.  Just doesn't make sense to me but that is just my opinion.  I typically use the 7.1's for bottom baits and the 5.1's for crankbaits.  The 6.3's are my workhorse for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, shallow square bills, etc.
