As I mentioned I am new to fishing. I have been reading a review of David Fritts reel and it had this written on it "DF10HC has PowerLock instant anti-reverse; other models have dual-pawl anti-reverse."

I can figure out what instant anti-reverse but what is dual-pawl anti-reverse.

Also, what gear ratio do most people use for crankbaits.

Thanks for all the answers.

The dual pawl and single pawl anti-reverse reels have a lever (pawl)and ratchet gear that prevent the reel from turning backwards much the same as the instant anti-reverse but there is some slight backward movement with the pawl type.

My cranking reels for lipped baits are 3.8, 4.7, and 5.0 ratios.
