Power pro?

I'm reading some of the power pro braid reviews on BP.com.

I'm reading and I come across some things like this:

"this line will absorb water like a sponge,tangle, and make a huge mess"

"it kept digging in my reel i tink i will stay with spiderwire."

 "i pulled to set the hook and the line broke. i think i will stick with spiderwire stealth."

 "it digged in my reel i think i will stick with spiderwire stealth and ultracast."

"I think I'll stick to fireline."

"good for long cast and very strong but coat comes off on my reel and starts to fray"

"This line is slighlty more coarse than suffix and less limp; therefore it does not cast as well as the silky soft suffix and does not flow through the guides quite as well."

"The line coating comes off and than the line frays"

Do any of you get this from Power pro too, and should I use spider wire or suffix instead?

i use power pro except for 1 rod i use in gin clear water all the others are power pro barid

no matter what the use of rod is for

i have a few line snaps but i fish mostly rocks and no line holds up good there

Sufix , power pro , and stren super braid are quality braids you might try.

I've learned to never base decisions on BPS reviews, they can be misleading. Just look at how many people on there think an Ugly Stik is the best rod ever.

YUP BPS and cabelas both have reviews that will boggle your minds BPS seems to cater to newbies that think they know it all cause they just spent 200 bucks on a rod and 30 on a reel just like the other day a boy wanted to race me in his 08 vette on a wet road while i was in my 95 blazer with 4 wheel drive id beat him in 4 wheel high so easy ..I know way off topic but in anycase try power pro u will love it or hate it

Braid does not absorb water like mono does.

Line Dig is a trait in any braid, and it is more prevalent the thinner diameter of braid you use. However, if you know how and why the line digs into itself, it can be greatly reduced. Heck I know I don't experience it anymore.

Like this has never happened with any other line they've used.  :

Braid will eventually lose its color, but provided there is not wear on the line it is still in good shape for fishing.

I have not and don't plan to try Sufix braid as good as it sounds. It is too pricey relative to the cost of PPro. I use Sufix Mono and love it. I reckon it should follow that it is a good braid.

Do any of you get this from Power pro too, and should I use spider wire or suffix instead?

I have used PPro and Spiderwire Stealth, but not Spiderwire Braid, Original or otherwise. IMHO Stealth seems flatter (less round than PPro) but other than that performance wise, I find them equal and very good. I only give a super slight edge to PPro because it is "rounder" and I wouldn't hesistate to use Stealth if PPro were not available.

I fish with 65#, 30# and 15# power pro.  I personally have not found any better braid than the power pro.  I flip with the 65, frog fish with the 30 and have the 15 on a med spinning rig.

To keep the cost down I either use a backer line  or I will respool from one reel to another reel.  This puts the used, possibly frayed line on the bottom and the unused braid on the top.

I think this sums it up quite well.  I have had many issues with Stealth line, but Power Pro have worked well for me now for years.

I learned a long time ago that, unfortunately, there are fisherman who are good at putting out really bad information.  Power Pro is an excellent line and has served me well for two years fishing buzzbaits, jigs, frogs and swimbaits.  I have never lost a fish with Power Pro.  Are there also other excellent braids out there---darn right.

The first braid I tried was Spiderwire and I had a number of problems and gripes with it. I got some PP and haven't looked back. I love the stuff, casts a mile and is strong as an ox.

I actually gave up the power pro in favor of spiderwire stealth. I was having issues with the pp and tried the stealth. For my money, it will be stealth from here on out. Been using it for as long as stealth has been on the market.

There are some problems that occur with braid as a whole. I always use a backer line. Also spool the braid on as tight as possible. I take a cloth rag and grip the line so it has to perform a couple of bends through the cloth before it goes on the reel. Don't reel too fast and you will have to change positions about every 50 yds. or so
