detroit1 Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I am a member of neither and they're driving me crazy... Quote
Super User Muddy Posted November 24, 2008 Author Super User Posted November 24, 2008 I think you guys must keep this thread alive just to drive the Shimano Posse crazy! You got your own board, now go back from whence you came ;D Quote
The Rooster Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I'm expecting them to be $80 to $90 by how they're made. Just like the Medalist of 2008, 10 bearings and aluminum frame with rubber grip. Sorry for the triple post but according to the latest North American Fisherman magazine the Pres XT is $79.95 Aw yeeah!! I called that one!! Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted November 25, 2008 Super User Posted November 25, 2008 Three pages and counting for a Pflueger thread !?!? How cool is this?? Quote

Super User bilgerat Posted November 25, 2008 Super User Posted November 25, 2008 C'mon RW, you know you wanna be in the COOL posse with us. We won't tell the Shimano guys. We promise. : Quote
I.rar Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 can anyone elaborate on why you prefer the president over the medalist? The old Medalist didn't have On / Off anti-reverse (Muddy can correct me if I am wrong). Same problem as the Infusion. They were very heavy, in my opinion they were made more for saltwater fishing than fresh. i did notice the weight difference. the larger presidents can be used for both accoring to thier website. ive never really understood the whole antireverse switch. ive never used it. wth is it for? :-? anyways , i may hit up sports authority this week and see if they have anymore president combos and just snag one up for a b-day/xmas present to myself. at under $60 a pop , they seem like a great deal imo. last time i went they only had the 6735 model. Super User Muddy Posted November 25, 2008 Author Super User Posted November 25, 2008 Thats right RW, it would be the same for ABU also. Not everyone is a SHE MANO LEMMING here ;D Quote

That 6735 would be the one I want!! Under $60 a pop?? I paid that for the REEL this passed spring!! I only use my antireverse switch when I accidentally reel the line up to far to make another cast. I flip it off momentarily and roll the line backwards a turn or so, then reengage it again and problem solved. Some people like Shaw Grigsby don't use antireverse at all, they just let the line play out backwards as a fish takes it and slow it's rotation with their hand as it goes. I saw him do that on his show once. I didn't like the idea at all though. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted November 25, 2008 Author Super User Posted November 25, 2008 When I fish the river with live bait, I leave it off sometimes and use my index finger on the line to control bait drift. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted November 25, 2008 Super User Posted November 25, 2008 Not too fond of that color but love my 6740... a little heavy but matched with my 7' MH extreme I can fish all day with it. Pflueger definitely gets my vote for spinning reels and it's all because of the president. Quote
I.rar Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 if i can convince the fiance to go by sports authority with me , i may bring one home if they still have them today. ive never used any antireverse switch. Quote

Sharkbite Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Great deal! Muddy this reel sounds nice. Quote
The Rooster Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 You got a real deal!!! I think the 40 size is just a bit large for my tastes but if you like it then you'll never beat it, wow I can't believe you only paid that little bit for the COMBO!!! Awesome!!! Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted November 29, 2008 Super User Posted November 29, 2008 That's a great deal for the combo...I have the 6740 and love it Quote
Catch22 Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 I just picked up the President XT tonight. I picked it up in the 6735 size. It was selling for 59.99 and they were having a 10% off sale at my local tackle shop. It ended up costing me less than 54 bucks. I can't wait to try it out. Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted December 6, 2008 Super User Posted December 6, 2008 muddy how is the fusion i played with one seemed nice but 70 bucks i think whats ur take on it??? Quote
Super User Muddy Posted December 6, 2008 Author Super User Posted December 6, 2008 Never handled one.I am very happy with Trion BC's and President Spinning reels. I got tired of selling my reels ,UPGRADING, only to ditch those and come back to what I use. Quote
bass wrangler569 Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I'm sure its a nice real seeing as the old president's were fantastic but man that is one ugly color. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted December 8, 2008 Author Super User Posted December 8, 2008 It seems that this President is for Salt Walter applications Quote
