It's going to be Christmas soon, and I am looking for a new baitcasting rod and reel set-up. I am looking to spend less than 150.00 on a rod and 150.00 on a reel. I am going to mostly use this set-up for flipping and pitching. I was looking at the E21 Carrot Stick and the Shimano Citica. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

I use a 7'3 MHF carrot stix with a Core 100 mgfv for pitching and flipping.  I like a burner reel for flippin so I can turn the fish faster.  That may be just me I dont know.  So basically what I'm saying is upgrade the citica to a Curado E7 and I think you will have one sweet setup.

I own neither, but have heard nothing but good things about the new citica, so I think you'd do well there with the price range you're looking at.  Might wanna do some research on the rod though.  I've seen mixed reviews bout the carrot stix.  Some people seem to love them, others not so much.

Same here. Heard great things about the citica and I'm planning to get one for Christmas, but heard bad and good about the E21 :-/
