Who is getting a rod/reel for christmas?

I am!

My fiance has offered to purchase me a rod/reel!  Can't wait to pick one out and get fishing this winter break.

The funny thing is she loves giving surprises and just wants to agree on a price range and then she'll go to our local store...I can't seem to make her understand that this has to be to my exact specifications. haha. Maybe I should use a buying her an expensive purse analogy.   ;D

Right now we are talking ~$150 for each others presents.  I cant decide whether to get a second Citica E and compre combo or have her just buy me the Curado E and find a stick myself...lifes important decisions.  :)

Anyone else waiting to open a rod or reel or just gear for the holidays?  What are you looking to get?

Getting two 6'6" Shimano Compre rods (medium and medium heavy) along with two Bass Pro Shops Extreme reels to pair them with, both 6.4:1 ratio. One of these rods is already here in the house, and both reels are here too. The other rod will come closer to Christmas. But I can't have any of them until Christmas.

Didn't know the combo of the Compre/Citica could be had for under $150. It'll cost more than that to get the ones I am getting cause of the reel choice I made but I'm satisfied with my reel choice, I love the Extremes. I may have thought about it for one second longer though if I had known the Citica might have been available on them......but I doubt I'd have changed my mind. Extremes are great reels.

OH.....and the best thing for you to do to get the rod you want is just flat out pick the rod you want in advance and write down it's brand, name, and model number, along with a few details about it (length, action, power) and then give it to her. She can't mess that up if she goes to a tackle store and asks for help finding it. Do the same for the reel too. Tell her there's no other rod or reel that you want "incase" this one cannot be found....it has to be THAT one.

Good luck to you on that one. For me I ended up going to the store and picking my own rod, ordering my own reel on Bass Pro's site, and my wife just more or less was there to say it was from her.  Yeah I know, not very Christmassy but it got me the rod/reel I wanted.  By rights, the gift should be about you, but it sounds like it "might" be as much or more about her too since she loves giving surprises and the details necessary on the rod will definitely let the air out of any surprise she has in store on this. Tread lightly.

Some things are on sale right now at great prices but they're in the Christmas catalog only. You have to order over the phone or online (I couldn't seem to make the sale prices work online so I just called in my multiple orders :)).

I posted about this a couple of weeks ago.

I have a St. Croix Avid and a Pflueger Supreme sitting in the basement hidden from me until the 25th. I can't see them but they taunt me when I'm down there....."Come on, lets go fishing, she'll never know".......

dont know whats for x-mas yet, but i have an MS slammer, a BBZ-1 shad and some spot removers on there way to my house, for my birthday on monday!!

Looking at the dawia's mike rod.

Kinda depends...my job is shaky right now and could pretty much put a halt on it.

I'm getting one, but, I don't no if I will be getting one, I'm happy with the one I have now, sure it's not "top end", but works, and I don't get many backlashes with it.

Instead, I'll hope to get one for my dad, who right not, is kinda out a good bass pole, it's not even a bait caster, just a cheep 30$ spinner he's had for about 1 1/2. I hope to get him a BPS Extreme combo.

It's Christmas.

I ain't gettin' squat, instead, we are going to go give some stuff away.  Much more satisfying.  I have some stuff leftover from the CAST season, tackle from Strike King and ***, rods/reels, tackle boxes etc that we will bring down to the Hasbro Children's Hospital on Christmas eve.  I have also asked UPS if they would like to donate any toys/goodies from the overgoods dept., we'll see.

If any RI's want to hop on the Xmas train and come down with Michelle and I, just holler.  If you have any gear or toys (new please) that you'd like to donate, you know how to reach me.

Also,.If anyone knows of a child/family (preferably someone who has fallen on harder times) who could REALLY benefit from getting a little something, please PM me with details

hey me too!!!

havent decided on the powell or a crucial yet. im getting a c-rig/jig rod tho. already have the pt-te in the house though... mocking... ::)

I was thinking of asking the wife for a Code and Cumara, only problem how do I answer what I will do with the 30 other outfits I have, any ideas?
