fish-fighting-illini Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I saw in Bassmaster magazine or Field & Stream an article about this year's new equipment. They listed a Zebco combo that had a Split Grip Tenessee handle! I'm thinking why bother? If you know enough to know what a split grip is you are not going to be buying a Zebco! Quote
Super User Tin Posted November 22, 2008 Super User Posted November 22, 2008 I'm sure a bunch of people will still buy it though. : Quote

Super User bilgerat Posted November 23, 2008 Super User Posted November 23, 2008 C'mon, admit it. You probably learned to fish with a Zebco. Most of us did. No shame in that. They serve a purpose, which is to get the hook and bobber out there with minimal fuss so the kids don't have to bother you every four minutes with "Daaaad my lines messed up again" ;D, which leaves YOU with more time to fish. Flywatersmallie Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Zebco and Quantum are one in the same. Obviously marketed differently but still the same company as we all know. Why is it that Quantum does something and nobody says a word yet when it trickles down to the Zebco line people laugh? I think its brilliant..... Here's why. All the Quantum pros, Bill Dance, KVD, Grigsby and the like that the weekend warrior sees on TV are using the new Quantum stuff, some of which is styled like those goofy Zebco rigs. People are gonna see that at wally world or wherever and opt for that rig over a comparable cheapo rig by Shakespeare or what have you because they saw Angler X using THAT rod on tv and boy, he sure caught them with it. Beginner logic wont often allow to buy a high or mid priced rod but when they can buy one "almost as good" as what the pros are using, well, there you have it. Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted November 24, 2008 Super User Posted November 24, 2008 Dont bash on zebco yall i got all my kids started with them and truthfully i think 202 and 303 are what made us ALL get into fishing if it wanst for such ease of use id prob have a diff addiction same as millions of people Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted November 25, 2008 Super User Posted November 25, 2008 There's no question that zebco is probably the starting brand for most fisherman Quote
Cravin Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I cut my teeth on them so I cant utter a bad word about a Zebco, I think my son may feel the same! he caught this one earlier this summer on his 24$ 33 classic from Wally World. I remember catching catfish on them thinking the cats where going to rip it right off the pole and sneaking in a private lake as a kid at night, knowing it could handle a good fight but cheep enough to ditch if we had to run. I have three kids, we have three zebco 33 combos, ones pink. although it never gets used she had to have one too! Quote
