joeyd50 Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 What would you guys consider a good Finesse Baitcaster? I'm looking at this http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_90674?cm_mmc=froogle-_-100-1-1-_--1-_-38-350-460-00&hvarAID=46KY&mr:trackingCode=911BE1D8-EAB0-DD11-B7E2-001422107090&mr:referralID=NA and was wondering if anyone's used one. Thanks Joe Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 13, 2008 Super User Posted November 13, 2008 I have a Daiwa Sol that I use line down to 6# diameter, and baits down to about 1/4 oz. The reel is important, but so is the rod you choose. Makes no sense to put a light reel and line on a MH rod and expect it to throw a light bait. Quote
joeyd50 Posted November 13, 2008 Author Posted November 13, 2008 I been using spinning gear for little T/R French fry worms, little 4" worms, just figured I asked about a little baitcaster. There's one of these BPS reels on E-Bay for $24.00 Joe Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted November 14, 2008 Super User Posted November 14, 2008 Not used the ProLite personally but have heard some descent things. BPS also makes a smaller size Extreme for "Finesse" situations Quote
cooperbps Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 the bass pro fall angler 08 has the pro lite for 69.99 and 9 out of 10 times the bass pro stores will match prices from the catalogs Quote
Super User cart7t Posted November 15, 2008 Super User Posted November 15, 2008 Save some money and get the Extreme ETX05. Same reel basically, different color. Quote
fishntime Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 My Diawa Sol will cast the lightest of baits a mile with little effort. ;D Quote
bighed Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Chronarch MG's are on sale most places right now and are very light/cast light baits well. Hang one on a Loomis 820 rod and you got a top shelf outfit. I know this is not really in the price range you were talking about but was worth a mention. big Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 15, 2008 Super User Posted November 15, 2008 Shimano Curado 100 is a great baitcaster for finesse fishing. Quote
joeyd50 Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 Shimano Curado 100 is a great baitcaster for finesse fishing. I assume Shimano reels are like anything else, you get what you pay for, I have 1 Scorpion 1000 I love this reel, 2 Citica 200 that are OK, had a green Curado 5:1 ratio I used for crankbaits hated that reel, also had a Callisto CSO-100 that I did not like. I'm a Quantum guy, I have 2 Tour PT's, 2 Quantum 7.0:1 Burners, 2 Accurist PT's and 1 Energy PT. I love all the Quantum's, cast great, reel Smooth, but these are all top dollars reels. The only top dollar Shimano is the Scorpion and I do love that one, had a couple of the new Curado E's in my hand and they look and feel great. I'll probably just stick with my spinning gear for all my little stuff. Thanks Joe Quote
