does any one use the improved cinch knot when tying multiple treble-hooked lures , and if so have you had the knots fail ??? i use them alot for lipless crankbaits and other crankbaits and have never had a knot fail. i know they are not recomended but don't understand why . yes , i use a palomar knot on everything else ....

I have used it in the past....and had it fail...but that was a long time ago. I have used palomar exclusively for awhile; knowing that it will not fail.

I use Palomar with 15# Power Pro. Never had a failure, which I guess is why I use it.  :)

I use a palomar to a duoloc snap for cranks.  I remove the split rings.  The only thing I use an improved cinch for are spinnerbaits on 12-15# P-Line CXX.  With that line there is no knot failure.  Palomar or Uni for everything else.

yeah i use the improved cinch for crankbaits , uni-knots for my flouro leaders , and palomar knots for everything else . i guess im just fortunate that i don't get knot failures with the improved cinch on my braid ......  :)

I have used the improved clinch with no problems, but I still prefer the palomar.

Later, :)

yeah , i feel they're just as strong as palomars , but i trust a palomar over a imp.cinch , i know the plomar is stronger but just never had the other fail , just wanted others experience .....  :)

In the summer I never leave home without one set up with 50# power pro.  I have used the palomar pretty much exclusively with it, and never had a failure.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it...Do what works for you!   :)

I love both the Improved Clinch and Palomar Knots.

However with braid, the IC knot can slip out. This is why it is not recommended with braid. My obseravations and experiements have revealed that it is most ready to do it with newer braid that still has the waxy coating on it.

If I decide to use it, I will double the number of winds. It has held up so far, but I know down inside I am running a risk of slippage.

I agree that tying a palomar with baits like CBs can be a pain. The duo lock snap as already mentioned is a great way to get around this.

I use a double improved clinch.  Pass through one, like you would for the IC, pass the tag end though the eye again, wrap around standing line however much you like (I usually go 4 times with 30lb braid), pass back through both loops, and then through the loop created, and carefully cinch it down tight.

I've never had it slip, and I've bent out many hooks on it.

Similarly to the above post, I just use a Uni but run it through the eye twice instead of once. If you don't run it through twice, it will slip. Running in through twice, I've ruined many good laydowns by pulling them off the shore, and I've bent many hooks  :)
