spiderwire g-string vs p-line cxx for swimbaits ???

ive been asking about wich line to use for chucking big swimbaits , well one said to use 25 lb. CXX (p-line) and another said 80 lb. braid , i know CXX is very strong , but was looking thru TACKLETOUR reveiws and i read that the SPIDERWIRE G-STRING is over twice as strong as P-LINE CXX , well i actually think thats spiderwires claim . i looked for it on diffferent websites and the highest dia. is 20 lb. , so does any one have experience with the g-string line and can compare it to the CXX . and would this line hold up to moderately big swimbaits ( 3-6 oz.) , or should i just go with the 80 lb. braid ??? , reason im concerned is that i fish really clear waters and highly pressured ones at that ...... thanks

i appreciate your post but im talking about swimbaits and lines to use for them , where i fish are very big bass and are catchable on swimbaits .........

throwing bigger lures use 65 lb braid, some with a leader, some direct tie.

I'm sure some of our big lure guys will be by later and share their

thoughts.

Stay with CXX. I have never broke off a fish, or a snag with 25lb. I use braid for my bbz shad floater, but thats about it.

Yeah, and if what you want is really strong why not a 2 inch dia rope ?

RW, the vast and utter majority,including myself, use monofilament between 20-30lbs. CXX and Big Game being the most popular.  I use 20lb CXX for my smaller baits, 25lb CXX for all medium baits except for huddlestons, and 30lb CXX for huddlestons, the 2x4, and the really big baits.

Fish Chris preaches braid and I assumed that was the line of choice

for all the big swimbait guys. Well, I guess I was wrong, but that's why

we ask, isn't it?

p.s. Didn't you recently post a story about breaking a rod in two

places and boating an 11 1/2 lb bass by hand? I was thinking of

that story when I responded and thought you specifically mentioned

Yeah but Fish is just a freak of nature, lol.

I should say that braid is gorwing in popularity for some very specific baits and techniques tho. But the vast majority of big baiters and big bait situations call for heavy mono.

Yeah, this one. Check out what's hanging out of her mouth.

I use braid with leader on ALL of my non swimbait rods. Braid just doesnt work for me with big baits.

Just let me ask you, is there any particular reason why you don 't believe I 've done it or you just happen to have the exclusivity and Fourbizz is the only one that catches big bass ?

3 reasons, because you have mentioned multiple times that you only catch small fish on swimbaits, only swimbaits i ever see you mention owning are small, and 3 if you have used baits of that size much, you wouldnt be recomending 17lb.

Plenty of people on here like Fish, Mattlures, Catt, Paul, etc catch way more big fish than I do. I do however know my way around a swimbait rod.

No sir, you are wrong, I 've said that I 've caught a lot more smaller fish on hard swimbaits than larger fish.

I mention smaller baits a lot, why ? cuz when everybody asks about which swimbaits should they get not everybody is willing to pop 50 bones for a Hudd, less alone several of them, plus a reel, plus a rod.

Why shouldn 't I fish with 17 lbs test ? you like it heavier I don 't, whatever tickles your fancy.

Thanks for clearing that up. I don't recall the pic, I must have missed it if you posted, I wouldn't forget a fish like that! I want to also pay compliments to you for consistantly weighing big bass. I have no doubt about a weight you state, but the fish in the pic could easily be 15+ if it were someone else's!

After seeing  a 5lber snap new 15lb CXX this past weekend in a tournament, I've lost confidence in CXX for anything but swimbaits.

30lb CXX for me.
