How many rods do you take when you go fishing??

How many different rod/reel setups do you take with you when you go fishing and what do you use them for?? I'm trying to get an accurate idea of how many I might need to get, like one medium heavy for jigging/T-rigging, one rod especially for crankbaits, and so on...

I take anywhere between 3 and 5.

Here is what I have:

1. I got a 6'6" medium bass pro shops pro qualifier casting rod that I use for Texas rigs. Its one of my mainstays.

2. I got a 7' MH BPS Extreme rod that I use for jigs or carolina rigging. I usually always have this with me too.

3. I have a BPS Rick Clunn casting rod - 6'6" medium that I use for small cranks/finesse presentations. This one I take or leave (most often leave because even though its a worm/dropshot rod its about as limber as a willow branch) depending on how I am feeling.  Its REALLY sensitive though so its good for throwing jigheads and things of that nature.

4. I have a 6' medium Quest rod that I use for top waters and spinner/buzz baits. Its a mainstay.

5. I have a 6' medium St. Croix Premier spinning rod that I use for just about anything but mostly its my senko rod. Its always with me.

I used to have a few others but I sold them.

I am due for a serious tackle overhaul though. I just want some new stuff and with winter on its way, I will probably go crazy and buy all new rods and reels .

when im in the back of the boat... which is always... take four rods.

6'6 medium heavy/ quantum kvd 7.0--for all things moving.

6'6 medium glass/abu garcia black maxx round 5.4-- for cranks and sometimes shallow/light texas rig

7' medium heavy/ diawa 100h lefthanded 6.2-- for all things crawling.

7' medium/light/ quantum incyte spinning-- for dropshotting and senko type things.

15lb yozuri hybrid on everything except the spinninig reel, which has trilene xl 8lb. on it right now..... but its about to get yo zuri 10lb ultra soft.

Dude, I do the same thing when it comes to winter.  I go crazy and start hitting the stores looking for new stuff or old stuff I just never got yet and would like to get (those are mostly lures).

I do most of my spending BY FAR in the winter...buying crap is almost as addictive as fishing.

usally i only use one,on account i only have two hands and can only hold one rod at a time .seriously though, when i do the co-ang thing just two. a 4000 and a 2500 Daiwa on a 6'6 med,and a 6'6 med lite. i  use the 4000 for everything, i use the 2500 for small rapala types and senko stuff. and even though i am new at the co-ang thing,i havent yet regreted having more rods to use,my last tourny i used one rod the whole day, caught the same amount of fish as the boater.

Have a Calcutta/ Allstar Rod- Worm fishing

Just got a Revo Stx a week ago... and a nice friend of mine gave me a Team Daiwa V med. action rod- I use this for senkos, flukes, and spinnerbaits...

I take a spinning rod for drop-shot fishing, or for roostertails/panther martins.... It's a President 6740

I think 3 is plenty.... especially when bank fishing

Usually not less than 5 or more than 10.  Whats tied on depends on where I'm fishing, time of year, etc.  Less rods if it's not a tourny, maybe 4 or 5 to keep the clutter down and the deck open.

When fishing from shore I take 3. One set-up for live bait fishing, one backup and one for fishing artificials (usually for wacky rigged Senkos)

4, 2 baitcasters and 2 spinning setups.

1 baitcaster for jigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits

1 baitcaster for crankbaits, topwaters

1 spinning setup for soft plastics

1 spinning setup for everything else too small for my baitcast setups

I may try and add another baitcasting setup to have a dedicated jig setup and then one free for spinnerbaits/buzzbaits.  I fish from shore so I'll take all of this and work it until I figure out what is working the best then I'll only carry the setup or two that are working the best.

Revo S/Fenwick HMG 6'6" MH for rigs, jigs heavier spinnerbaits and the like

Revo STX/St Croix Legend Tournament Drop Shot. Use this for little spinners (booyah pond magic, things like that). tubes, grubs, smallie lures, 1/8 oz jigs. Things that dont weigh a whole ton, its a 6'9" ML

And a 6' medium St Croix Avid/TD Advantage for stuff too light to throw effectively on a baitcaster

Oh, and roughly 50lbs of baits  ;D in a softsided bag with a few extra plano boxes around as well. I generally fish close enough to the SUV that it is essentially my rod locker/storage

All but the ProMax have 12lb fluoro. My tourney partner takes no less than 12 usually, though he only uses about 5 or 6 on a given trip. He uses nothing but Carrot Stix. The front deck is just a sea of orange.
