HOIST-N-HAWGS Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 I was considering buying another Cumara, but then saw they increased in price by $20 more. > Looking at the Kistler Magnesium TS's and they seem to have all the features I'm looking for @ $50 less. I wasn't a big fan of this years model LTA's,but like the idea of supporting "MADE IN USA"! Looking for some hands on experience with the Mag TS's. Thank you in advance. Paul Quote
Super User Raul Posted October 1, 2008 Super User Posted October 1, 2008 Mag TS rods are not made in the US, they are made in China. Quote
BigBrotherThunda Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 ive got a few of both, and for the 20+ more i would still buy the cumara! the Mags are very good, very very good rods. Light sensitive nd well balanced. But they arent as light, as sensitive,or as well balanced as teh cumaras! The over the counter lifetime warranty is also a huge plus IMO for shimano. Quote

HOIST-N-HAWGS Posted October 1, 2008 Author Posted October 1, 2008 Thanks for the input people! Kistlers costomer service was outstanding. I snapped a Hullium 2 in half and $50 later a new one arrived in the mail less then a week later. It was much quicker then shipping and waiting a month for Shimano. The last Cumara I purchced had an eye and rap come unbuttoned. The dealer I bought it from refused the over the counter return and this was after dropping $600 in his store. > Basspro also has you send it back to Shimano as well. With all that said, I'm most likely going w/the Cumara's. Thanks again for your advice! Quote
Pigsticker Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 100% get the cumara I have a Kistler helium 2 great rod but Shimano's rod warranty is way too good. I am always afraid of breaking my kistler, I use my Shimano's to hammer nails and don't worry about it Kistler makes great sticks but warranty hands down is Shimano. Call up Shimano they will have no problem giving you another rod for nothing. Don't take it to the tackle shop Quote
Super User 5bass Posted October 2, 2008 Super User Posted October 2, 2008 The Kistler Magnesiums leave a lot to be desired in my opinion. I bought a few when they first came out and ended up selling every one of them. I'd get the Cumara over the Magnesium for sure. Now if you had asked Kistler Helium LTA or Cumara, I'd say get the Helium LTA. Quote

Very interesting the denied the over the counter , do you know if it was because it was not a major problem with the rod ex. if the rod had broke do you think the retailers would have taken it back?
