Hey guys, I've been searching like crazy trying to find what type of line y'all generally use for your different types of baits and I'm just as clueless as when I started. Let me know what you guys use for:

soft plastics:

jigs:

frogs:

buzzbait:

spinnerbait:

chatterbait:

crankbait:

topwaters:

and any other type of bait you can think of ;D! If there is anything I should be aware of while using said line on said bait let me know as well.

Thanks in advance!

In the following order:

1.- Trilene Big Game

2.- Trilene XL or XT

3.- PowerPro ( yeah guys, you read right, Raul does use braided line ocassionally )

It doesn 't depend on what bait I 'm fishing but to at what and where I 'm fishing.

Mase,

Ike's rules state the following:

Treble Hook Baits - Mono

All Other Baits - Flouro

Deep Cranking, pads, slop, heavy cover, etc. - Braid

As for brands:

Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft for tournaments, only.

Stren for mono.

Silver Thread, Trileen and Vanish for flouro.

I also have Power Pro but use that in tournaments, too.

So apply Ike's rules regarding the types of line to your query and you will have a base to start your collection of line.  ;D

Some Rapala Finesse I still have left.

I'm thinking of changing to P line when my stash of Realine runs out.

what do you guys think about braid on soft plastics and jigs? think any visibility issues would occur? same for spinnerbaits and cranks? i would like to use braid all the time except for topwaters but i fish braid much less confidently with the slower moving baits, thus producing less fish. i feel like the fish have all day to see the braid.

If it aint broke don't try to fix it  ;)

I honestly can't say I've ever had a feeling where I thought I didn't get bit because the fish could see my braid. I don't fish super clear water or anything either though. Mainly, I use mono for lures I want to float. Fluoro for lures I want to sink. And braid for lures I need a quick hookset and to cut through grass.

I use XL but thinking of trying P-Line CX or Yo-Zuri copoly.

Power Pro, pretty much all the time. Even with plastics and the like, then again, I dont fish super clear water often either. For those instances, I have a rod rigged with flouro (seaguar 14 lb) and a spare spool for a spinning rod with the same in 6lb for when they are real spooky or want a very  small bait

P-line 100% FC

Power Pro braid

P-Line CXX

Suffix Elite

Gamma and P-Line FC leader material

Cover, presence of zebes and quagga, clarity, depth, bait, etc. are what determines line choice.  In general, I like braid for grass jigs, FC for deep or lite fineasse jigs, cranking and DS, mono for cranks, CXX for spinners, buzzers, TW, general use, leaders for finicky fish or for using braid in slice and dice zebe water.
