thetr20one Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Green 65# P-line braid. Tough stuff with the best color retention IMO. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted September 17, 2008 Super User Posted September 17, 2008 I use 3: 12lb Pline= Finesse jigs 20lb Pline= Flippin jigs 65lb Braid= Grass and weeds Allen Quote
snapper G Posted September 17, 2008 Author Posted September 17, 2008 50 lb. green power pro. Great that's what is on my reel now! Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 17, 2008 Super User Posted September 17, 2008 Again, what kind of jigging? I've used 1# FC leaders for steelhead jigs, all the way up to 80# braid or 25# FC for heavy cover . In general, i'd say 12-15# mono/copoly or 50# braid for weedless jig n' pig type stuff. For finesse stuff, you can go lighter. Quote
westpalmfrogpunk Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Generally I use 20 pound xps floro. If i am getting into the jungle we go to a braid. Quote
joeyd50 Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I'm new to jigs, I'm using 65lb Sufix Braid, but I haven't landed a bass all year jigging. :'( Good Luck Joe Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 17, 2008 Super User Posted September 17, 2008 But have you hooked them? What do you think the problem is? Maybe we can change that statistic for you . A Great Lakes 6lb. LMB on a jig: Quote
joeyd50 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 I believe the problem is, I'm not sure it's a hit or not, I know of two hits this summer for sure. Now soon as I feel the slightest bump I set the hook. I can go over the same area I just jig fish with a T/R worm and get um in the boat. I'm not giving up. Joe Quote

Do not wait to see if there is a fish there, since all you might feel is the fish spitting the bait. If it gets to the bottom, pop it a few times, or shake it. Anything feels just slightly different, swing. The bites are frequently subtle, and that is an understatement. Many times I've been flipping in weedbeds, and I've seen the strikes. Visually they are quite violent, yet on the tactile side almost not detectable. Its because they grab the bait on the slack line fall. Quote

That Sufix braid is green and hard to see, what do you think about the Hi Vis braided lines? Thanks Joe Quote

MattStrykul Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 20 lb vanish transition is my favorite. I started throwing jigs with braid, then switched to mono and started catching fish. More of a confidence thing for me Quote
heathen Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 12 to 20 pound Toray Bawo Premium Plus Fluorocarbon, depending on conditions. Quote
Dorkus Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 someone got me started on white braids and i love it. The biggest reason why i use it is because i can see the line. I can see each tick that i might otherwise miss with other lines. Quote
