Are there any differences in the way these baits perform or is it just color types. I saw some today while I was out at wally world and was wondering. I think I am going to pick some up and wanted some opinions.

The glass ones are better in clearer water. They both are great baits for open water or digging in mud. But they do not deflect well and they get hung up if you are digging them and there is anything on the bottom. But if I am targeting schools of shad in open water, they are my go to crank.

All of my glass shad raps suspend.  I'm not sure if ALL rapala glass raps suspend or not though...

There is a floating version of the regular shad rap.

As Needemp said, great open water bait when the shad are schooling.  The bills on those Glass shads don't hold up well cranking down into the bottom.  I've broken several off doing that.

There 's no versus here, they are completely different baits the only thing both have in common is the name Shad Rap.

Now if you want a real versus then it 's Shad Rap RS vs Glass Shad Rap, both are indeed the same bait with differences:

1.- Glass Shad Raps are clear, Shad Rap RS have metallic and/or opaque painted finish

2.- Different color schemes

3.- Glass Shad Raps have the reflectant inside.

Raul, your right. All I use is the RS so I wasn't even thinking of the other versions. Good call.

There is a chance that the reason your raps are getting hung up is becasue they are suspending versions. If you are using cranks around any sort of cover you want a floating model that will bump off and float away from any thing that might cause  ahang up. Suspending models are good for open water or working it above the bottom or where you suspect the fish to be, hopefully the stalling and sitting of the lure will draw strikes from hungry fish below that spot an easy meal.
