HOIST-N-HAWGS Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Picked up the new E7 a few days ago and gotta say I'm very impressed! Casts a mile! Seems a bit smoother then the older version, loving the lower profile and new color. Cranks in fish with ease. Also trying out the Gamma line, which I also like. Gotta get me a few more of these to match up with the new rods! Quote
Super User grimlin Posted September 22, 2008 Super User Posted September 22, 2008 Trying to save up this winter for one. Can't make up my mine rather i want to get the E7 or E5 for cranking.More than likely i'm gonna go with the E7 for everything. Quote
Jake. Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 I got mine a week ago. It is very nice. I like it better than my Revos. Quote
Super User Micro Posted September 23, 2008 Super User Posted September 23, 2008 I looked at the E7 and E5. They are very low profile, but they seem to have a lot of plastic on them. Plated plastic spool tension knob? Plastic-on-plastic level-wind guard and level wind. Also, I had trouble tightening the drag down to more than a few pounds. $180 seems incredibly high for those kind of "improvements." IMO, the best thing about the Es is that it has made the Ds very inexpensive. Hope it holds up well for you. Quote
Chad. Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 I have the exact same combo except the cumara is 7'2'' mh f action my favourite by far casts a mile light so sensitive it has actually helped me improve my soft plastics fishing as i can feel the structure and such the cumara is sweet and the same goes for the curado. Super User Chris at Tech Posted September 23, 2008 Super User Posted September 23, 2008 Anyone one of you guys looking to unload some LH Revos, let me know Quote
Super User burleytog Posted September 24, 2008 Super User Posted September 24, 2008 Plastic-on-plastic level-wind guard and level wind. I'm looking at a Revo S and a Premier right now. Both are plastic. Also, I had trouble tightening the drag down to more than a few pounds. Until Abu came up with their fabulous '24 lbs. of drag pressure' advertising scheme, anglers did pretty d**n good with only a 'few pounds' of drag. Quote
Super User Micro Posted September 24, 2008 Super User Posted September 24, 2008 Yeah, a few pounds of drag may do the trick. But the ones I looked at didn't appear up to par with the Ds I've owned/own. And no need to get bent out of shape, just making some observations (just like everyone else on this board). Lot's of plastic on the 200E for $180. Both sideplate, tension knob, etc. Hope it stands the test of time. Time will tell how this IPO reel turns out. Until Abu came up with their fabulous '24 lbs. of drag pressure' advertising scheme, anglers did pretty d**n good with only a 'few pounds' of drag. And they did it for nearly twice the price. Quote

Ain't it fun when companies actually have to compete. 8-) Quote

That will never happen. And you know how new products are....everybody's got to have one. The Curado's the last couple years have really lost ground to the Revo, they had to get it right this time. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't. And like someone else posted, I'll be glad to take your Revo's off your hands, especially STX's and Premier's. PM me. Quote
