which is best? their are no Cabelas in Florida, and BPS in about a 2hr drive. However!, their is a Gander about 15mins away, how are their casting reels? Anyone tried 'em?

So should i skip shipping and go to gander and get better Quality reels than BPS or Cabelas?

None buy shimano

x3, HOWEVER HE DID NOT ASK ABOUT SHIMANO REELS. The choices were BPS, Cabelas or Gander Mountain. I have never used Gander Mountain or Cabelas but Muddy uses Cabelas Prodigy reels exclusively and loves them. I have casted the Johnny Morris Elite a few times and it felt good. I think house brand reels are limited to performance because they are made cheaper, thats why i stick with Shimano Or Abu Garcia. Muddy will let you know about the Cabelas reels.

Like my close friend RM would say...

Should have put a NOTA (None Of The Above) don't and never will use a house brand reel...

Tight Lines!!!  :)

I'm guessing but to me, it sounds like your poll question is asking what we think are the best cheapest reels.

If you want a cheap baitcaster, the BPS $29 MegaCast baitcaster is identical to my Shakespeare Axiom/Agility/Sigma series, just different bearing count 3/4/6. Parts are interchangeable. I have them all, simple to disassemble and reassemble.

I can throw them all a lot farther after removing the grease and using oil in the spool bearings. jmho

I had a cabelas fish eagle tournament 2. It was a good real, had good casts. Then I got into Abu Garcia and shakspear (dimension) and it casts so nice, that I wont ever go back. My Shakespear Dimension has 10 ball bearings, and my Abu Garci Black Max has like 5.

If you opt for the Gander Mountain ones, you will be glad that their warranty is what it is and that it's only 15 minutes to the store... I bought one (felt nice and smooth) of the Gander Tournament series reels for like $70. Well.... 2 weeks in, the spool seized up to the point where I could get a 10-15 foot cast out and that was about it. Took it back, got another one.... 2 weeks and 2 days this time and the reel went into free spool and would not engage. I took that one back yesterday and ponied up for a Revo STX. I'm done with cheap reels! I didnt vote as I have no experience with either the Cabelas ones or BPS. I have heard good things on the Johnny Morris Elites but have never touched one. The nearest Cabelas is 2 hours, BPS is about 6. I wont buy a rod or reel unless I can play with them first.

On a side note though, the Gander rods are pretty nice for the $$$

The "Viper"rod and reel combo I bought for my 12 year old 1 yr ago is a BPS and it has stayed as smooth as my Shimano's and Diawa's for sure. That is my only experience with their reels,as for their rods,I own 9 of the IM8 series very nice indeed.

Actually I have gone back to my FLOOGER TRIONS. It was a good experiment ,but with 2 Prodigy/Fish Eagle II on the bottom of the lake I feel as thoguh the fish gods were sending me a message

I liked both the BPS Extremes and the Prodigys. I did find after a season of use that I far prefered the Trions. I especially do not care for magnetic or hybrid brake systems. I like the old fashioned Centrafugals much better. I get a Trion .Leave 4 on and 2 off and I am set to go.

That being said if I had to choose between these 2 reels The Extremes win out because BPS Services them and Cabelas gave me a list of service centers, none of whom had parts if needed.
