Super User Grey Wolf Posted September 13, 2008 Super User Posted September 13, 2008 water color dictates that. Quote
Jake P Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 In my opinion green would be your best bet in most water situations. Only if the water is crystal clear would I use clear. I dont even have a clear spool, I use Yo Zuri Hybrid 8# and 12# green for everything. Quote
guitarkid Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 I use green the most too, but I fish ponds that are pretty weedy and grimey. -tumnus Quote
Super User Muddy Posted September 13, 2008 Super User Posted September 13, 2008 My Favorite, the only line I use is Cabela's Pro Line in Clear/blue flourescent Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted September 13, 2008 Super User Posted September 13, 2008 Trilene XL Clear Blue Fluorescent. I fish in very clear water. Falcon Quote

The Rooster Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Clear/blue fluorescent Stren line. Never used green before. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted September 14, 2008 Super User Posted September 14, 2008 Cortland http://www.cortlandline.com/products/default.asp?id=169 I bought a spool of this once and i put it on my lawn and never found it again Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted September 14, 2008 Super User Posted September 14, 2008 Clear for me. I mostly fish clear water so I stick with clear line and it seems to work fine in the mud too. Quote
reo Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 I have used both and have been using green this year. I fish with the same guy 90% of the time and he uses clear. I cannot honestly say that I have noticed a difference. Just comfort level, meaning whatever you are comfortable with. We fish water that at times is VERY clear, still no noticeable difference. Super User Raul Posted September 15, 2008 Super User Posted September 15, 2008 I fish with both, flurescent blue for 8 lbs, clear for 10 pounds, green for 12 pounds, smoke for 14 pounds. It 's just a color code I use to differentiate the pound test. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Clear I find it easier to see the clear above the water when line watching (after reading that, I know it doesn't seem to make sense, but it is true). Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 15, 2008 Super User Posted September 15, 2008 I use gold or orange mono. But that's for trout fishing, and I use a leader . For bass, I use CXX Copoly, and its the moss color. I personally don't think it matters that much. When it does, I use fluorocarbon. Quote

Raul this is a cool idea. I would never have thought of this. Right now I mostly fish green. I just have more confidence in it, since I tend to fish fairly dark water Quote

I'd wish i thought of that....I use a caliber to see what the line size is.(some reason i forget when i store the reel away for backup) I fish both clear and green....neither seems to get more bites considering the water color. Super User .ghoti. Posted September 16, 2008 Super User Posted September 16, 2008 Trilene XL Clear Blue Fluorescent for everything except cranks and spinnerbaits. I use green Sufix Elite for those. Quote

Don 't got any trubble differentiating 17 lbs test though, that thing is as thick as rope so it 's easy to identify. Quote
