Steve1357 Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 I have several Ambassadeur 5000s, after throwing a lot of line away, is there like a spool spacer or different spool that can be used so that instead of loading 200-250 yds of line, it would only take 100 yds or so? I've tried the old braided line loaded underneath trick, but thought there might be a different way. I haven't seen anything searching around so far. Thanks Quote
Okieracer Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 You might try some masking tape wrapped around the spool evenly. Its light enough it shouldn't effect castability too much. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted September 11, 2008 Super User Posted September 11, 2008 I have an old (88) 5501 (Black) that has the clear spool arbor reducer on it. You might want to contact Pure Fishing Garcia and see if they make one for your reels. Make sure you have the number off of the reel foot, in case they ask. Good Luck... Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 12, 2008 Super User Posted September 12, 2008 Why keep throwing the backer away? Just leave it and respool the last 100 yards or so. Alternatively, use a smaller capacity reel. Quote

Steve1357 Posted September 13, 2008 Author Posted September 13, 2008 Thanks all, I've contacted Pure Fishing Garcia and I'll post what I get back. Quote
Steve1357 Posted September 15, 2008 Author Posted September 15, 2008 Received a prompt answer today, the arbors are no longer available. Back to backing.... Quote
