snapper G Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I've had good luck with sufix, i've also heard fireline and trilene are both good, what do you guys think? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? Quote
Super User fishinfiend Posted September 12, 2008 Super User Posted September 12, 2008 Ed, Ed, Ed, we ain't going fishin' without the trilene! I have used Trilene XL 12# for quite some time and I am very pleased, especially with how it casts. The ponds that I fish do not have a lot of cover or grassbeds so I RARELY break off. If you are fishing really heavy grass, you may want to pick another line. i also like the fact that this line is realtively inexpensive, which allows me to change my line frequently. Quote
Joe Boss Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 My favorite is mono is Stren. I tried Trilene XL and have lost some fish from line breaks. Trilene XT is better but it is a little stiff for me. I find Original Stren is the perfect balance between toughness and castability. It was the first line I used when I started fishing and after many years of trying new lines I have gone back to it. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted September 12, 2008 Super User Posted September 12, 2008 PLine CXX. It'll cure what ails ya! Quote
Super User grimlin Posted September 12, 2008 Super User Posted September 12, 2008 Trilene big game in 12# or 15# test...depending on what i'm planning to cast. I use trilene XT as well in 14# for jigs and have absolutely no problems with it. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 12, 2008 Super User Posted September 12, 2008 Although I suspect monofilament is a 10:1 favorite versus all other lines combined, there are much better alternatives. It surprises me that even some of our best anglers on this Forum continue to use this type of line. On the otherhand, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" 8-) Quote
VikingsFan Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I use P-Line CX. Tough, almost no line memory, and ties knots easily. I've tried many others but this is by far my favorite. Quote
The Rooster Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 My favorite is mono is Stren. I tried Trilene XL and have lost some fish from line breaks. Trilene XT is better but it is a little stiff for me. I find Original Stren is the perfect balance between toughness and castability. It was the first line I used when I started fishing and after many years of trying new lines I have gone back to it. This was my experience too when using Trilene XL. I never lost any fish with it but it constantly broke when tying the knots. I'd have to tie three or four times sometimes before it would stay tied. I used it for a long time but finally I switched to Stren a couple years ago and have not had that problem since. I thought for a while that it was the way I was tying the knots but apparently it doesn't matter with the Stren I'm using, the original in the purple box. Works great. Quote
slomoe Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Pline cxx for swimbaits xt for everything else Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 12, 2008 Super User Posted September 12, 2008 I think you have to be very specific here, as mono refers to a few different types of line. Nylon Mono: Suffix Elite, Trilene XL, Big Game FC: XPS or P-line 100% Copolymer: P-Line CXX Quote
Stasher1 Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I use Sufix Elite and Trilene XL, with a strong preference for the Sufix. When the time comes to respool my UL and ML spinning rigs, I'll be going with Sufix Elite. Quote
tyrius. Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I use Trilene XL for my light spinning reel, Trilene XT for my soft plastics spinning reel, and Trilene Big Game on my baitcasters. Either that or braid. Quote
KevO Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I like Sufix seige on baitcasters and Elite on spinning. Lately, I have been partial to yo-zuri hybrid though. Quote
CookieMonst3r Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Suffix Seige, love the smooth casting, low memory and it's extremly strong. Trilene Big Game is also good, low memory, and strong. Both used on Spinning tackle. Quote
bighed Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Izor XXX, nothing else is even close. Quote

Lambo6 Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Suffix Siege and Stren , But i must say i just discovered Flourocarbon , been using the spiderwire ultracast and XPS brand Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 13, 2008 Super User Posted September 13, 2008 Berkley® Trilene® Big Game, strong, abrasion resistant, & reasonable price Quote
nebass Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Tectan premium plus,Very thin,Very strong!Gammakatsu G-Power, also Very thin, Very strong. these are by far IMHO the best mono/co-poymer lines i have used. Even though the G-Power is not a mono, I also absolutely love the stuff but it is getting pretty hard to find. Scored a good inventory on Ebay last month though so I won't be running out any time soon. Quote
Certified Public Angler Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 none, I hate mono and quit using it. ;D Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted September 13, 2008 Super User Posted September 13, 2008 Trilene XT for me. It's even better now with the "new" formula!! Everybody else gripes about it, I LOVE it!! Quote
smcentee Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Sufix Siege - Camo! Great in stained water. Smooth, resists abrassion pretty well, and low memory. Quote

Super User cart7t Posted September 14, 2008 Super User Posted September 14, 2008 My favorites aren't even made anymore. I'm pretty well stocked on Realine co-polymer. I'm just about out of Rapala Finesse. Otherwise good old original stren has worked for me for many years. Quote
