JT Bagwell Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Was looking at the Summit,Trion, and Surpeme and was wondering if anyone as any good or bad things to say about them?Any help would be great. I own all 3 of the reels mentioned, as well as the President and the Patriarch. I have not really had any major trouble with any of them. They are all very smooth casting and smooth reeling. The Trion, which has the lowest price point, is a bit bulkier and heavier than what I prefer. I have sort of small hands and it just wasn't the best fit for me. However, I never had any issues with it not functioning properly. Prior to the birth of the Patriarch, the Summit was my main crankbait reel. This thing is smooth and fits perfect in the palm of my hand. I can cast it a mile. The Supreme is my main reel in my arsenal. I have several of them rigged up and ready to go on every trip. It fits perfect in my hand and casts great. I use it for everything from skipping docks to pulling frogs through thick pads. I have not had a single issue with a Supreme reel yet and I have been using them since they came out of production. Right now the only baitcasting reels in my boat are the Supreme and the Patriarch. Both are awesome reels at very reasonable price points. JT Bagwell Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Hey everyone, Right now Cabelas has the Medalist spinning for the same price $59 as the President spinning. The Summit Supreme BC also is on a very nice sale. Quote
The Rooster Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I've got a President and a Trion, spinning reels, and for the price I think they're great reels. I had never owned a Pflueger reel before this year (other than a really really old antique Summit that's just a collectable now, never fished with it). This passed spring I got one of both the President and the Trion spinning reels, and I love them both dearly, am thoroughly satisfied, they hold up great, I will be buying more and will NOT be even considering any other brand of spinning reel again as long as these are being made. Is there any doubt about how I feel about Pflueger spinning reels?? ;D Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted August 8, 2008 Super User Posted August 8, 2008 I completely agree with Roostertails. I have both the Presidents and the Trions and like them equally as well. Quote
Joe Boss Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I took my Plueger Intensity baitcaster on a charter my Dad and I booked this weekend (love charters, hate using anything but my own equipment) I had used the Intensity once before from shore with no luck but this weekend I couldn't be happier with it. We caught over 100 smallmouth bass in 5 hours half of which were mine. The Intensity worked well with no problems. It is so smooth and quiet. Quote
