the SX is supposed to have 10 ball bearings plus one roller bearing. however, i can only count 5 in the diagram. what am i missing?

4 of them are in the handle, 2 per knobs, if you look carefully you will find the other 6.

That being said, Micro are you saying that a Stradic is not significantly better than a Pflueger President?

I don't think it's $100 better. I think a big portion of that $100 is for the name alone.

Isn't that the name of the game in fishing tackle?  Are Lucky Crafts twice as good as Rapala's?  Are Megabass baits 3 or 4 times as good as Rapala's?  Are Yammies 2.5 times as good as ***?  Are gloomis IMX rods twice as good as an Avid?

i've been wondering about bearings for awhile now. in an effort to understand this more, i just pulled out the parts diagram for my revo SX. the SX is supposed to have 10 ball bearings plus one roller bearing. however, i can only count 5 in the diagram. what am i missing?

Ok one on each side of the worm gear (=2), one in the side plate, one on the spool shaft (behind the pin), one under the cast control cap, one on the end of the crank shaft, two in each crank paddle...That's 10.....

Give me at least 5 and I'm happy.

Mr David G,

If a guy has a reel with 10 ABEC 3 bearings (stock), how many of those would you recommend upgrading to ABEC 5's for top performance.  All of them, or just the "important" ones? And the important ones are which?

In a BC reel, just the spool support bearings. Like I have stated before, with only ABEC5 in those area's anything above it i.e ABEC7's is just ego upgrades. The ABEC3's that would be scattered throughout the rest of the reel are for crank smoothness only.

Only in the Round BC (Garica) reels that have engaged level winds I would also upgrade the level wind bearings...

In a SP reel I wouldn't waste my money on bearing upgrades, as stated they are to help relieve the torque it takes to get the reels rotor turning for retrieve.

Just my .02¢ from the bench..... :)

Tight Lines!!!!
