eddieinva Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Anyone have an experience with this reel? I noticed it only has a 4.7:1 Gear Ratio.. and I'm not too sure how this affects me.. but I just read a second ago that 6:1 is probably the best all around.. and since I wanted to use this as my all around reel.. hmm.. thinking I have to return it.. but I did manage to get it for a steel... paid 39bucks for it.. Uncle Leo Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 I believe the 6 to 1 gear ratio might have been referred to a baitcaster. Very few spinning reels have that high of a ratio. The 2500 is a spinning reel right? Quote
Uncle Leo Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 If you are looking for a high speed spinning reel Plueger does make them. Not sure about Diawa. http://www.pfluegerfishing.com/products/products.php?p=11. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted August 28, 2008 Super User Posted August 28, 2008 Uncle Leo is right that was a BC GR that was posted.... Yeah that reel (Capricorn 2500XTC) is a 5.1:1 GR reel, most all SP reels are running the middle to high 5's in GR. The Regal SP's only run a 5.3:1, the Steeze SP's only run a 4.8:1 GR.. Tight Lines!!!! Quote
Joe Boss Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 This reel is a Dick's exclusive. I bought it in a combo paired with a St. Croix Triumph and it is my favorite all around reel. Its a workhorse with Hardbodyz aluminum design, it can really take a beating. Very smooth with 7+1 bearings. Quote
