Does anyone know who actually makes the BPS brand of rods and reels?

I read somewhere that the Rick Clunn BC might be made by Pflueger, any truth to this or just internet rumors?

Thanks, :)

according to their catalog they make their own rods.i've heard pflueger makes the reels but i don't know.i know pflueger reels have parts that are exactly like some pinnacle reels so they are probably getting parts from other manufacturers.it's done in the auto industry all the time.ford ,g.m. and chrysler all source from the same manufacturers.gm is in cahoots with chrysler on our hybrid truck.so in the end who cares?as long as the end product is good i don't care.

There is this factory somewhere in South Korea that makes reels. These reels have very familiar names on them. Some look different and have different parts, but they all come out of the same manufacturing factory.

some of their reels share the same design features as pflueger reels (e.g. "ultimate braking system" and "inertial transfer braking"), a dead giveaway that they're made by the same company which i've heard is silstar. some of their other reels look like dead-ringers for brownings (which is owned by BPS now).

All of the rod and reel mfg's make re-brand reels/rods. So how ya going to know who makes what for who and as dodgeguy replied

in the end who cares? as long as the end product is good

BTW Browning Fishing isn't owned by BPS..  (BPS only) is licensed by Browning Fishing to sell their fishing gear....Quantum use to be.

I was just curious as to who made what.  I know in the RC car and plane industry there is lots of stuff that is just repackaged with a different box and label.

Thanks for all the replies, :)

Same in this industry.  You should see everything that Pure Fishing makes.  Much of the "competition" are actually made by the same parent company.

Whoa just a min.

Were are you all getting your info from.

Pure Fishing doesn't make anything it is a international corporate portfolio. More than one Major Manufacturer of tackle is listed under the Pure Fishing umbrella.

Berkley, Garcia, Fenwick, Stren, Shakespeare, Penn, Pflueger, AllStar, etc.

I'm curious who's making Abu Garcia reels, the drag star on the Revo STX is the same as some Bass Pro reels and some Pflueger reels. The drag star on the Revo S is also the same as on the Pflueger Cetina (think that's the name :-?. ) I have Revo's, Bass Pro's, Pflueger's and like 'em all.

Once they found out what bass fishermen would spend on a bait casting reel, these guys dropped the candy biz like it was their mother in-laws bloomers and took up building fishing reels.  They make all of them.

I guess I worded my post poorly, but you echoed the point that I was TRYING to make.  Pure Fishing is the parent corporation for multiple "brands" of rods, reels, fishing line, lures, etc.  It seems to me to be a lot like GMC, Pontiac, Chevy, etc.  All different "manufacturers" owned by the same parent company.

ZEBCO makes every reel in the world, it's a conspiracy
