booneangler Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 So im thinking about getting me a fenwick this will be my first fenwick. Im thinking about getting the Elite Riggin Stick 7'3 MH. What do you guys think do you think i will like the sensitivity and the rod over all better than a G Loomis Mossyback Carolina rigging rod? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 19, 2008 Super User Posted August 19, 2008 I have a Techna AV which is a fine rod, but at their new pricing level, I don't think they are a value. At the pricing point you are looking at, the St. Croix is a better value. Wait a couple of months and the Legend Elite will be on sale, BIG TIME! St. Croix is introducing a new line-up. 8-) Quote
Super User Micro Posted August 19, 2008 Super User Posted August 19, 2008 Are you talking about Fenwick Elite Tech? I have a 7'3' MH Elite Tech Crankshaft. It's a really nice rod. I think it compares favorably to other rods I examined before I bough it, like Lamiglass, Powell, American Rodsmith and Kistler. As far as the other Fenwicks, I disgaree with RW. I think they are fantastic values. According to the folks at Tackle Tour, the Fenwick HMG is very comparable to the St. Croix Avid, and costs considerably less. The Techna AV according to people that own both, is very comparable to the Loomis IMX, again for less. You can't go wrong with Fenwick. They have an extremely long history of prodicing great rods. booneangler Posted August 19, 2008 Author Posted August 19, 2008 yes im talking about Elite. And i can get this rod for $169 plus 10% off. Quote
Chad. Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 The Techna AV according to people that own both, is very comparable to the Loomis IMX, again for less. Thats a joke I have a techna av and the shimano crucial blows it out of the water now where on the imx level. Quote

Chaddy, a bit of advise, I know you're young but, try just stating your opinion without calling someone else's post a joke. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted August 19, 2008 Super User Posted August 19, 2008 Really the best thing to do is buy one and make your own decision about the rod. There are many quality rods and every one will tell you theirs are the best. The rod wars just seem to go on and on. Quote
Uncle Leo Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I have two spinning HMX and a Techna AV baitcaster, for the money they are fine rods. Quote

The AV is much more sensitive then the Crucial but is a bit more money. If price is the only comparision then I would agree. Quote

I love 14 year olds who know how to state all their years experience in a polite way. :-/ Quote

Don't get me wrong here both are great rods in fact fit and finish i would give the fenwick the nod. Then again what to I know I'm 14 :-/ Quote
Hawgin Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 I have fished with IMX's and Techna AV's, and I like the Techna's just as well or better. I don't like Fenwicks new price points, but if you can find a used one at an affordable price, don't hesitate to pick it up. Quote
MSPbass Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 $150 for an Elite Tech Riggin' Stik is a nice deal. You'll like it. I say go for it! Quote

I don't like Fenwicks new price points, but if you can find a used one at an affordable price, don't hesitate to pick it up. My local dealer sells HMXs for $79-90 and HMGs for $99-$109. I've partook of that deal several times. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted August 21, 2008 Super User Posted August 21, 2008 Every once in a while AMAZON puts the TECHNA AV's and HMX's up deeply discounted. I got a 6'6" Med/Fast HMX Trigger for 38 bucks delivered NEW< AND UN DAMAGED! 8-) Quote

LAO162 Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I have 2 Techna AV baitcasters & 1 Crucial spinning rod. For bottom bouncing techniques I find the Techna AV's to be significantly more sensitive. However, that is just my perception. Quote
booneangler Posted August 23, 2008 Author Posted August 23, 2008 im just wondering if it is going to be sinsitive enough? Is the Elite Riggin Stick IM6 or Im10? Quote
njbasser Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I have a techna av, very sensitive. Im sure the Elite Tech is just as sensitive if not more sensitive. Quote
