K, so i got a new spool of 40lb Powerpro braided line. I've been hearing that people soak their line in hot water for 5 minutes before spooling it on. Does anyone have any advice on what to do, or just not do anything at all.

(I dont have any of that line treatment stuff)

I've never heard of soaking it in water, but I just put it on my reels as is.

Get the KVD Line and Lure and spray it on your braid.  It will seal in the color and keep the braid from getting "fuzzy" thus making it last much longer.  It will also allow for longer casts even with the braid   :)

Putting mono and flouro lines in hot water will make them soft and easier to put on your spool.

Old timers will spool up their spinning reels, remove the spool, and soak it in hot water to remove the memory.

I use KVD Lure and Line Spray which works great.

Some folks use Silicone to do the same thing.

I never use anything on braid so hearing that the guys use the KVD spray is a surprise to me. But if it works, then it is a good thing to do.

Later.  :)

Buy some of that treatment stuff and please don't soak your braid in hot water.

The hot water thing is only for mono(not sure about flouro). It is supposed to relieve the memory from the spool you took it off. BUT imo the powerpro on my bc handles better once its wet. That has nothing to do with the op but I thought I'd throw it in. x3 for KVD

It does work for fluoro too. I always soak my fluoro in a little bit of hot water before I put it on.
