Spent the better part of two nights at work trying to pick it out.  Just wasn't possible.  Ended up having to take a knife to the spool.

That's what happens when you catch TheBeast's rod in the back of the boat.   ;D

Is that the best you can do? ;D

When I screw up that bad, I remove the spool from the reel. It makes line removal a lot easier.

I made my first true bird's next a few weeks ago with a side arm cast in which my lure smacked the back of a chair from the shore. The treble dug into the fabric of the chair and the next sound was thrrruppp! My thumb didn't even have a chance to stop it. :-[ It made your nest look quite manageable. ;)

The picture doesn't really do it justice.  Plus that was right before I gave up on picking it out and decided to start cutting.

d**n shame too as I had just put that line on the reel.  Oh well, at least CXX is cheap.

I hear you. I had fresh 10# suffix siege on my reel. Siege is cheap too.

I've spent the last two nights picking one out of my Sol. I deserved this one though. I was casting a wacky rigged senko on a Jackall weedless wacky jig head, so the reel was set-up pretty wide open.

I had already caught one fish and shoulda replaced the senko; I figured nah, one more fish. As soon as I started a sharp cast the senko flew off, and resulted in an out-of-commission Sol.

Unfortunately Gamma Co-poly isn't cheap.

A couple of weeks ago, I did one of my famous two handed, side arm power casts into a tree about 10 feet from the boat. Power Pro is hard to cut off of the spool. LOL

It happens to me, too.

Usually when I am casting and hit the boat's windshield, another rod, or a bush/tree.

This is why I take extra baitcasters and spinning reels with me to switch out while fishing and then remove the backlash when I get home.

;)

Ha Ha... ;D

I haven't had one like that in a few years. But seeing that one I wouldn't have even tried to pick it out, just remove the spool and start cutting....

Tight Lines!!!!

Even better was it was dark and I thought I had gotten a strike and set the hook.

Yikes  ;)  It never ceases to amaze me how easily fishing line can get wrapped up. I have had to hack many of spools over the years. It really sucks when you are on a hot bite too.  :'(

LOL so true i let someone else use my reel for a minute and they got a huge backlash when the bite was on , by the time i picked it out the spinnerbait bite was done and shortly after the line guide insert on the reel popped out ;)
