Crankhead Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I've been reading on different posts that several guys prefer braided line for topwater. I thought mono was the best way to go for topwater since it doesn't sink as fast as say fluro. I just started using braided line and found power pro to be the best out of all the brands I tried. I never really thought braid was used for topwater. What are the positives & negatives for using power pro over say berkley big game mono line? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted August 10, 2008 Super User Posted August 10, 2008 I don't use Power Pro, but I do use braid for topwater. Positives- it floats and the strength-to-diameter ratio is MUCH better than monos Negatives: none that I have experienced Quote
Super User Muddy Posted August 10, 2008 Super User Posted August 10, 2008 I have never used braid, so I do not know the benifits of that. For topwaters and for anything with a Treble I like to use Mono. I have a habit of reacting too fast to a top water bite, waiting to feel the weight of the fish , once you see the strike is a very hard dicipline. I find using a softer rod and mono really helps me get em to the boat better. Quote
