How do you guys store soft plastics?

I used to just lay them out in different compartments of my tackle box by color. When I got back into fishing recently the new baits I bought I kept in the bags because I though taking them out would "air out" the salt/scent. I really don't know if that makes a difference or not.

I've been getting more and more of them and I'm finding that keeping them in a bag is more feasible for saving space but it makes it hard to find what you're looking for when you have to dig through a whole bag of them if theres more than one size/color/bait in each bag.

Any thoughts?

i got a free tacklebag from field and stream. well it had no boxes in it, so i just kept all my plastics in their original ziplocks, and just dumped em all in the tacklebag. never mix any baits. bad things happen.

I can get about 2-3 bags in per zip lock bag.So that's around 20 ish bags in that.

Grimlin that binder thingy looks interesting, I may have to get one. I just don't know if it will fit into my tacklebox, and I don't want to carry it seperately.

What about the plastics that don't come in bags? The ones you buy individually? Just put them in zip lock bags?

Ahh,well i do carry it seperate,but it's small enough to not really notice.I bring that everywhere i go with a small tackle bag for my hardbaits,knifes and ect,ect.You can put some holes on that binder with a rope of some kind and carry it around your neck(hands free).

yeah the plastic lures you buy single just put them all in a small ziplock baggie..they'll be fine.

I keep them in their original bags unless I cannot clearly see what they are? I then store all similar baits in a 1 gallon clear freezer bag. This is the best method I have found to carry the most plastics in the least amount of space.

Sounds like it would work for conserving space. The only thing I don't like about this method is the baits arn't as clearly visible and you have to dig through the bag to find what you want.

Come to think of it, I might be able to remove one of the drawers from my tacklebox and put the binder in its place, but I'd have to go measure my box to make sure it would fit.

Another question I have is what about the baits that I've had for a long time that I didn't keep in a bag? Are they no good anymore, or just not as good?

I have around 200 bags of various plastics, so I usually carry a large Quantum Tackle Bag without the boxes with me when I go fishing.  The night before I figure out what I'm going to be using, after seeing the lake report, and carry what I will use that day in that  bag.  I try and keep my YUM, Culprit, Zoom, and BPS worms all separate in different compartments of the bag.  That way if I need a Motor Oil color I go to the Zoom section of the bag.  

When I get home I take the bags out and file them back in the drawers in my tackle chest.  It works out for me, and keeps me busy.

I keep mine mostly in boxes like my hard baits.  I keep them by type (chunks, grubs, craws, etc).  Small grubs for vertical jigging and drop shot are in tackle bags.

I order a lot of my plastics factory direct by the 100s so I divided them into 25s in Ziploc bags

I store mine in there original packages in shoe boxes at home. Before I leave to go fishing I sort through my baits based on the conditions and take what I think will work that day. Than I put what I'm taking in my tacklebag. Works for me.

Another idea is just go out and pick up a backpack. Throw the stuff that you want to take and be done with it. Especially if your going to be fishing the shores.

After seeing "LBH Storage System" several month ago in a similar thread, I decided to try it on my next trip and have been using it ever since. The guys I fishing with would laugh when I through the bags in the boat for that days fishing. A couple of them stopped laughing and are now doing the same.
