soft bait rod

ok, so, i've become VERY fond of my cabela's pistol grip pole with my abu garcia baitcaster, but i do love to fish soft plastics, primarily after i've hit a spot with spinnerbaits or crankbaits. my current soft plastic rod is too light. does anyone have any suggestions for a soft plastic spinning rod that will have 6 pound test (yeah, i'm a light angler) on it? my current is an okuma light action. i would like medium action. or ml. i don't know. help!

I fish all soft plastics on a 7' Medium Power/ Fast Action spinning rod.

My set-up is a St. Croix Legend Elite ES70MF/ Shimano Stella 2500FB/

Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (0.10" diameter, 11.9 lb test).

I would have said the SJR783 but that may be a little too heavy for 6# line.  So I would go with the 782 or the rod RW recommended.

Either the Team All Star TAS815SWW

or a Platinum P815SWW.

They call them Wacky worm rods but they make excellant, all around soft plastic rods and they won't cost you an arm and a leg but still have all the sensitivity of the more expensive rods.

thanks for all your help! i ended up getting a 7' ugly stik lite. took her night fishing last night and SOMETHING was hitting everything i could throw really hard but i couldn't set the hook - even with a popper! i think i was too excited, or my tube was incorrectly rig. but i did end up catching a big piece of rebar, which the rod handled just fine.

I've got a 6'6" M Shimano Crucial spinning rod that I'd been using for soft plastics, but I picked up a 6'8" ML BPS Extreme "Woo Daves" split grip rod about 6 weeks ago and I think I like the overall balance and feel of it better than the Crucial for lighter or weightless soft plastics.

I've got a couple Ugly Stiks (US Lite and standard) and they both feel like wet noodles to me. The Lite is stiffer and lighter than the standard model, but they're both just too whippy and floppy after using some of my other rods. Fine for crankbaits, but definitely not for soft plastics.

I like Ugly sticks and they are good for bobber fishing and some moving baits but I would not use one for jigs/plastics.

LOL did you even listen, i'd suggest to go return and get a berkely lighting rod 6'6'' med fast action.

The ugly stick lite is on par with the Lightning rod (both are IM6 blanks).  The Ugly stick lite is significantly better than the regular ugly stick.  He didn't do too bad if his budget was only $30.

lol yeah, i don't have the extra money to go out and buy expensive poles. 40 bucks was about my limit. and like i said, it worked just fine when i was using it last night. besides, i'm more of a line watcher than a line feeler.

the fish were toooooo smallllllll to hit it. the river i was fishing doesn't have many fish that can actually take a lure. they are mostly chub or bluegill with a few smaller smallmouth. i was really just trying it out to see how sensitive the rod was and how it casted, and it was great. there's no reason to redicule me because i can't afford a higher end rod. this rod did the job i needed - feel every bite. even in the dark, cuz i'm a line watcher, i knew that there were fish hitting it. we constantly have fish hitting our lures and nothing. my friend was getting the same on a rooster tail. besides, this is the 3rd ugly stik i own. i own 1 ul, one reg med action, and one lite med action. there are nothing wrong with these rods. >
