Fishin49er Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I might be getting one of these for Christmas, and i was just wondering yalls opinion on this reel. Also if this isnt it, what is yalls choice of the best reel under about 150? Quote
RiskKid. Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 This is not the only good choice but it is an excellent one in your price range. I have one and am extremely pleased. They may have a 100 model out by Christmas which is very much worth considering. Quote
Bass XL Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 i too am getting the citica for christmas! Quote

Papa_Tom Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 A 200 (or two, I hope) is on my Christmas list. Ran into a Shimano rep at the Tackle shop. I have several Curado's and Curado SF's and am impressed with this reel. ONLY negative I see is the weight is a bit more than the original Curado. Quote
Craw Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I've been shopping for reels for several weeks now and the Citica seems to be a winner. I've looked them over at tackle shops and read everything I could find on them. My Shimano purchase was the Curado 100D but if Citica releases a 100 then I might just have to get it. Quote
Top Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 WHEN they put out a 100 I will definately look into how they are... while I am sure they won't be in the same league as say a MG50 or even the Curado but I am sure it will fill a niche very nicely... might even sell a citica 200 to finance the 100 AL Quote
Chug Bug Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 How do all you guys already know what your'e getting for X-mas?!!!! Quote
WhiteMike1018 Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 I just got mine in the mail today, i Ordered the BPS combo that went for 140. There is a lot of posts in this section dealing with this. I like it a lot and I think i will be very happy with it this coming year. I would consider it, and its not too pricey- WM Quote
Fishin49er Posted November 9, 2006 Author Posted November 9, 2006 Thats the combo that im getting. You will have to let me hear what you think about it and how it performs, when you put it to use. What length and power did you get? Quote
zelmo Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 I just got mine in the mail today, i Ordered the BPS combo that went for 140. How did BPS package that combo? I am flying to Florida and need something to put my rods in. I thought I might order one of those combos and see if I could use the tube they send it in. Quote
nboucher Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 BPS sends the rod and reel separately, so the tube is really only good if you take the reel off and put in your regular luggage. Which is what I do anyway when I'm traveling with rods and reels. By the way I have that combo, too (6'6" MH Woo Daves Xtreme rod), and caught some nice fish with it this year, including the baby in my avatar. Quote

You could use it once, but I'd use a lot of reinforcing tape, especially at the ends. Mine had actually popped open at one end, and the UPS guy and I looked over the rod carefully to make sure it was still okay. I don't remember just how wide they are, but I'd guess you can fit two, maybe three, rods in one. I doubt they'd hold up under airline handling for more than one trip. Quote
