EVERETT-J Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Hi, I am new to forum and new to fishing at 51. Looking for first rod & reel. I am looking at spinning reels first and would like to here what others think about the Shimano Saros F 4000. Thanks. Quote
billbrum Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 IMO a 4000 size spinning reel is too big. Go with the 2500 or the 3000. Quote
njbasser Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 i agree with billbrum, 4000 is definitly a little big for bass. 2500 is a good all around size. Good luck Quote
quant PT Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 I have both a Saros 3000 and a Stradic 4000. The 3000 is definitely a better size for bass fishing. If you want to use it for larger species also the 4000 will work, but if you are fishing for bass only, you will enjoy fishing with the smaller reel more. Whatever size you get, you will love the Saros! Also, don't go too heavy on the line. 6-8 lb will be perfect on the 3000. The lighter the line, the more bites you will get. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted July 28, 2008 Super User Posted July 28, 2008 WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get the 2500 for bass. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 28, 2008 Super User Posted July 28, 2008 Welcome aboard! Quote IMO a 4000 size spinning reel is too big. Go with the 2500 or the 3000. The 2500 series is the ticket for bass fishing. 8-) Quote
