Just wondering what guys are using for line these days for certain application. Including brand and lb test.

flipping/pitching: trilene fluoro 17# and power pro 65#

tx rig ( weedline fishing or light cover) 12# seaguar fluoro

dropshot: 6# triplefish or 8# berkley fluoro

carolina rig (main line and leader): 65# power pro w/ 12-15# triple fish fluoro leader

spinnerbaits: 15# triplefish copolymer

crankbaits: 10# triplefish copolymer

topwater: 12-15# triplefish or gamma copolymer.

the reason why im asking, i have line left from last year. thats why you see the hodge podge of different lines up there. im looking to stick with one but having problems deciding and i wanted to see what works for others.

thanks

Braid from 10 to 50 lb. It lasts for years , saves you money over the long haul. JMHO. So please no debates wanted.

I only use baitcasters and here is how my 3 main reels are set up:

1. Daiwa Viento - Kistler Helium LTA - #15 Triple Fish Fluoro (main rod/reel used for everything - course all I do is worm fish)

2. Daiwa Viento - Powell Max - #30 Stren Super Braid (my wife's setup, when she goes fishing)

3. Daiwa Alpha Itos 103A - GLoomis 6'6" - 15# PLine Halo (this is the only line that I have found to use on this reel. I don't use this reel as much and should look into selling it.

If anyone wants to do a straight up trade for another Daiwa Viento for the Alphas Ito let me know. It's practically a brand new reel even though it looks like it really needs to be cleaned. I don't take it out with me fishing, just sits in the garage. I bought it brand new 2 years ago. If interested, email me at russell.edwards@aig.com or jre010@yahoo.com - I don't get to check out these sites that often anymore.

Worm/Jig - Berkley 100% Fluorocarbon 17# (baitcaster)

Crankbait, Spinnerbait, and topwater - Gamma Copolymer 12# (baitcaster)

Flippin - Currently Spiderwire 50# braid until I use it up then it will be  Suffix braid (baitcaster)

I also have a spinning reel spooled with 10# Gamma Copoly and the spare with 30# Suffix braid.

My finesse spinning rig has Gamma Copoly 4# and 6# on the spare spool.

My Calcutta 300TE that is on the way for swimbaiting will get 20# Trilene Big Game.

I agree, you won't dull near as many hook points or have as many soft plastics torn up. ;D ;D

OK, I'll play.  As I've said on other posts I use braid on all my rods, both bait caster and spinning.  On all of them I attach a flouro leader, usually between four to six feet in length.  To me, I have the best of both worlds.  i.e. the braid lasts and lasts, but it is a visible line.  The flouro leader makes the line invisible to the prey.  One caveat.  Don't be too aggressive on your hooksets.  Braid doesn't stretch, and the leader is too short to compensate.  Just a short jerk is all that is usually required.

This one is about as important to me as color.  Give me a rod with either braid, flouro or mono and I'll catch you a fish.

I just refuse to give a fish, with an IQ of 2, that kind of credit.

I'm becoming more and more of an "under-thinker" by the day.
