Evan Pease Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Ive been thinking about getting one of these for swimbaits and was wondering what experience you all have had with them or should I save up and get a Luna? Ill be throwing 2+ oz baits with it. Quote
basspimple Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 ive got a smaller one, and has been really good to me for the 4-5 years ive had it. smooth, easy drag, and casting distance with this thing is pretty darn good. only bad thing ive had with it is the handle pads arnt great, i put some of those pro grips on it and it feels a lot better. here is a link to a pretty in depth review on this reel: http://www.tackletour.com/reviewdaiwacvx.html Quote
Infidel. Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 I have a CV-Z 253. The only thing was that I had to upgrade the drags on it to get some more power out of it. Like KY said, they cast great. I use mine for Z-plugs, Hudds, In-line Ospray's, 8" Lunker Punkers, my 2x4, pretty much every full size swimbait I use. You'll be happy with it. There are a couple of big bait guys on here that really like the Luna. Quote
Pencil Pusher Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Which Milionaire are you considering? There is a world of difference between the Millionaire S and the CVX, CVZ models. Quote
Evan Pease Posted July 22, 2008 Author Posted July 22, 2008 Which Milionaire are you considering? There is a world of difference between the Millionaire S and the CVX, CVZ models. I have no clue what those are :-[. Ill do some research and post in a few minutes with what Ive found. Quote
Evan Pease Posted July 22, 2008 Author Posted July 22, 2008 The CV X is looking pretty good. 159.00 is about as much as Id want to pay but at that range Id be close enough to getting a Luna. Quote
Pencil Pusher Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 The CV X and CV Z are discontinued. The Luna replaced the CV Z and there is no replacement for the CV X. Quote
Evan Pease Posted July 22, 2008 Author Posted July 22, 2008 Oh. I must have read an old review. Ill probably just suck it up and get a Luna. I dont want to have to buy a better reel in the future. Quote
Infidel. Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 The CV X and CV Z are discontinued. The Luna replaced the CV Z and there is no replacement for the CV X. The St. Croix Avid casting reels are CV-Z's in the CV-X colors. You can still get them direct from St. Croix. Quote
Evan Pease Posted July 22, 2008 Author Posted July 22, 2008 Cool thanks. I might have to paint Daiwa on it though Quote
