bakos32 Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 I just bought a new baitcaster and but spiderwire stealth 10 lb line on it. I was practicing casting in my driveway quite a bit and noticed some fraying of the line. When I went out fishing the past two trips I have snapped my line 3 times trying to set the hook. Is the line weak from casting in a paved driveway or is there some other problem with my setup? Quote
Aaron Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Your issue could be due to dragging the line across pavement. Also, you could have a knick or defect on one of your guides that is causing the line issue. Also, the issue could be with your knot as opposed to the line itself. On a side note I prefer Suffix braid over the Spiderwire. Quote
bakos32 Posted July 14, 2008 Author Posted July 14, 2008 It's not the knot because it's no breaking there, Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted July 15, 2008 Super User Posted July 15, 2008 It's probably because of the rough driveway. Braid is very strong, but it can cut easily and fail. Quote
