njbasser Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I was just wondering what the best all around line is. I've really only used mono (big game) so i was just wondering if there is another type of line or another brand that would be better. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 8, 2008 Super User Posted July 8, 2008 No, probably not a "best", just "favorite". Mine is Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft, but if you browse back through this section, you will find plenty of other suggestions. 8-) Quote
Super User Raul Posted July 8, 2008 Super User Posted July 8, 2008 There 's no such thing as "the best line" there 's only a favorite line, mine has been Trilene Big Game for over a couple of decades. Not that I haven 't tried others. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted July 8, 2008 Super User Posted July 8, 2008 I'm a braid man myself. Quote
JT Bagwell Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I use PowerPro braided line for everything except crankbaits (unless I am fishing crystal clear water, which isn't often). PowerPro is tops with me. JT Bagwell Quote
Aaron Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I really like Gamma Co-polymer line, but it is kind of pricey. I also like the yo-zuri lines and Suffix lines. Just try different ones and settle on one that fits you. Quote
S I G M A Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Gamma Edge is probably my favorite... pricey could be an understatement though Quote
Stasher1 Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I use Sufix Elite and Trilene XL for just about everything except jigs and some soft plastics. They've never given me a reason to change to anything else. Quote

SimonSays Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I like braid, PowerPro Suffix or Stren, all three work for me. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted July 9, 2008 Super User Posted July 9, 2008 Trilene XL has served me well for over twenty years. I've tried other lines, but always go back to my trusty XL. Falcon Quote
aggiebassin Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 i really like Pline CXX, some say it has too much memory. but give it a good stretch and most of that goes away. this is the toughest/strongest line i have used Quote
Joe Boss Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I like Stren original in clear blue fluorescent and low vis green. Quote
Daiwa Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I use Trilene XL Smooth Cast. Its my favorite line. Its all I buy. I aslo use Tuf-line 80lb braided for musky. Quote
JigNBig Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 P-Line CX Premium. It is a very soft line which is perfect for spinning reels and its amazing for crankbaits and spinnerbaits. I use it for jigs and soft plastics when i am not using braid for grass or fluorocarbon for deep water say 15ft + Quote
Dawson Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Sufix Elite and Sufix Siege. Alternative would be Trilene XT or XL. Quote
